Chances for friend

Don't be fooled by my name this is not for me lol....

African American Male

from Maryland

ACT: 27

All honors/ AP classes

UM GPA: 3.4

He is in the top 8% of his class though....UM GPA is low because of bad sophomore year.

Pretty good EC's (President of a couple clubs, community service, etc.)

Job during the schol year 20 hours a week

All I know about him....what are his chances

The URM status will help, but I'd say Michigan is still a slight reach for him.

thanks Alexandre...do you think if his ACT goes up to a 29 he will have a decent shot....and do you think that he will get deferred if anything

Obviously, improving his ACT to 29 will help. His GPA is what is going to hurt him. At the very worst, your friend will be deferred. Michigan does not turn down many students with 3.0+ GPAs and 25+ ACT/1800+ SATs before the final stages.

i think he could get it but it is not automatic
