I'm going into my senior year in high school and I plan on applying as early as possible to FSU, UCF, FIU and USF. I'm applying before the October deadline in August. So I know my GPA sucks but here we go:

[I'm in-state. I'm African-American, Arabic and Persian, if that helps at all.]
GPA: 3.15 (UW) / 3.9 (W)
SAT: 1800 (690 CR, 570 M, 540 W)
ACT: 28

This November I'll be taking the U.S. History, World History, and Literature or Mathematics SAT Subject Tests. How much would it help me if I score highly on all of them?

(The main reason for my low GPA is that in my Sophomore year, the 2nd half, I got 4 C's and 1 D. I am by no means a "dumb" student but I have procrastination and organization problems (I'm over then now). I would often do an assignment, forget to turn it in and get a 0, not being able to make it up. Procrastination was another cause, but not as big. However I did significantly better Junior year -- I did get two C's in my AP classes but the teachers are hard. I got A's & B's in everything else. Senior year I'll get all A's, guaranteed.) -- I do have an upward trend though.

Honors: Algebra I Honors, English I & II & III Honors, Earth-Space Science Honors, Biology I Honors, World History Honors, Chemistry I Honors and Geometry Honors

AP (Score): AP World History (3), AP English Lang & Comp (4), AP Biology (2), AP U.S. History, AP Literature

EC's: Beta Club, SkillsUSA (starting Senior Year), Starting a Model UN club senior year as well as Yearbook. Do Russian & Arabic (learning languages) count?

I've volunteered quite a bit, and I'll be getting at least 100 this summer. I don't have an exact number though.

Senior Year Classes: AP U.S. Government (FLVS), AP Microeconomics (FLVS), AP Macroeconomics, AP Calculus, AP Biology, AP Human Geography, and hopefully AP Computer Science A and AP Environmental Science. Those last 2 are stretches, I'll probably just do APCSA.

I'm retaking AP Biology Senior Year.

** I'm also retaking both the ACT + SAT before the October deadline. I'm aiming to get at least a 2000+ & a 32+.

*** If it also helps, I did help work on this project that my AP Literature teacher said that a one of the teachers at CF said the project would earn a student an 100% on the final exam. Towards the end of the year, our AP Lit. / U.S. History class came up with the idea to do a Korean War veteran project, in which we interviewed 10+ war veterans about their experiences, etc. We video taped everything. The tapes will be edited into a documentary. Oh yeah, and multiple TV stations in our area have made deals through our teacher (not for money, fyi) to air the documentary on their stations. I also am (myself) designing the website & coding it so we can setup a website for the project.

****And in addition this is most likely irrelevant but I until recently I was dead set on majoring in Journalism. I set up a blog around 2 years ago that covered tech & gaming news (I was sort of catering to the job I wanted -- news would've been better -- I could've done so much more with it haha). I eventually went on to build a team of writers under me, I established contacts with PR reps of big companies (Sony, Cirago, ARCHOS, Casio, Verizon Wireless, TilsonPR and the company that developed Crysis 2 as well as the guys at EA). We got into the Eurogamer conference as members of the Media (although I didn't attend, one of my other writers did). For a while we did make quite a bit of money from the blog in terms of ad revenue. We didn't get much traffic but we did get linked back to by BGR.com, who cited us as a source (got over 2000 views that day). This I think would be useless but it's a whatever.

***** I can write an absolutely killer essay on my application. And also explain my GPA.

I can't believe school's almost over I really don't have too much hope that I'll get in, but it can't hurt to try.
