I am about to go into my Senior year of highschool and will be graduating in 2010 and am in state. I hope to get into FSU. I am curious, what are my chances?

GPA (U) : 3.1
GPA (W) : 4.3

SAT Score : 1150 (Retaking in October and hope to get 1200+)

AP's Taken : AP World History, AP US History, AP Language, AP Environmental Science, AP Psychology.) (Senior Year I am taking AP Euro, AP Macro, AP Micro, AP Bio, and AP US Govt)

E.C.s : 4 Year Varsity Soccer starter, 2 Years Latin Club, Youth in Government, Future Business Leaders of America, Ecology Club, and a couple others.

Service Hours : I have logged 76 thus far.

I am very nervous about getting into FSU. My fall back is currently UCF which I am nervous about also.

While your GPA is mitigated by the rigor of your coursework, the SAT score needs improvement. You are on-course with your retaking the SAT after preparation. Also consider the ACT.

A strong showing your senior year is essential. Senioritis could mean UCF instead of FSU for you.

Apply for summer for both UCF and FSU. Keep your grades up as P2N said. Search the FSU board here for the link to the SUS (State University System) GPA calculation as the only one UCF and FSU uses is the core couse GPA (which is weighted.) Your unweighted GPA is a little worrisome, but you need to figure the SUS GPA. Prep for your SAT retake and know that FSU considers ALL THREE sections, so knowing you have a 1150 doesn’t help us much. You definitely have a shot.

No its not, the only thing that universities in florida (public) care about gpa wise is SUS gpa, you could have a 3.0 or a 2.9 but if your sus gpa is good then your in, unless your scheduel and sat suck.

my SAT was lower than yours, and I was accepted for summer session. However, my unweighted GPA was a 3.5, and I took the ACT and received a higher score. I would suggest taking that. Also, make sure you write an amazing essay on your application, and emphasize your extracurriculars.
