Hi all, thank you for reading in advance! I appreciate it and I’ll be sure to chance back if you would like.
I’m Asian/American and I’m in jersey, I’ve been born and raised in NJ and I’m going into my senior year.
Highschool is a Blue Ribbon School, many kids end up going to IVY and is a great public school. Many get accepted to Rutgers each year.
GPA: 2.71,
Midyear grades: All A’s B’s, only one C.
SAT: 1740 (Reading: 520, Math: 570, Writing: 650)
Clubs: Not so many, around 5 or so.
Varsity swimmer for 3 years, varsity swim team captain this year.
Track runner/thrower for 2 years.
I’ve done missionary trips for Guatemala, volunteering throughout my town for town events as well as many church events. I do bible readings as well during mass.
I plan to do community service, visiting terminally ill people, which I’m sure will look good and it’s something I really want to do.
Notable info: Grew up single parent household (Father) for my whole life, my Grandmother took my spot as my mother. She had recently passed this year impacting my life a lot, about a week before my mid-term exams at the same time a week before my first SAT (I got a 1550). My dad was a working single parent, working late nights as I cooked my own dinners and regulated time for myself to study on my own. I’ve been extremely independent since my freshmen year of highschool, and my essay focuses on my grandmother and how I’ve learned to be very independent.
Major: Computer Science
Essay: My essay is very good I can say, it explains what my Grandmother has taught me and how big of an influence she had on me. My english teacher and counselors told me it was very good.
From what I’ve heard, CUNY schools want to get more out-of-state students, is this true? I will chance back! Thank you!!
