Chances for In State...

That's pretty much how it is at my school. Everyone within a certain gpa/rank range gets in (assuming good SATs). However, this year someone with a verrrry good rank was rejected due to lowwww SATs.

UVA rejects 300 people with SAT scores above 1500 EVERY YEAR

^ according to UVA admission officers

D-flow, meet my son. He's a third year at UVA's E-school.

He had your SAT's exactly.
He went to your school.
He played in your band (The Best Band in the State of Virginia!)
You have a better GPA than he did.
You will take more APs than he did.

I'd say your chances are pretty good.

This June, 30 students listed their college as UVA from Lake Braddock. How many were accepted and chose not to attend? Probably the four ivy-leaguers, the three service academy students, and likely several others (Duke, Northwestern, etc.) That's probably 40 or so from a class of 600+. It's well over 5%, but not quite 10%. The numerous APs will help your cause immensely.

Get in touch with the UVA band. The drum major is from Lake Braddock--ask the LB band director, Mr. H., for his name. Let them know you're interested. Use the force, Luke!

And, best of luck!
RB

I don't have to worry! They took every single TJ kid over 3.7 last year! Dude you're in good shape though for in-state. It would have been better if you're from southern VA as UVA is already forced to take about 100ish kids just from TJ, which is in Northern VA. But don't stress it, apply early if ur worried.

Oh btw.. good luck and I'll be seeing you next year when I get rejected from Cornell and my parents decide to make me stay in-state!

E-school baby!

Untilted, I believe that, but realize that many of them either aren't instate or have lowww GPA's. If you think about it, 300 isn't that many out of an applicant pool of 15000+ applications.
