Chances for legacy at Virginia Tech -Engineering

Okay so ive got some new college news that i thought would be beneficial so here goes.

Location: Ohio
Major: Engineering
legacy: My dad, was an engineer too if that helps...
GPA: 3.4 uw 3.6-7 weighted
SAT: 660 M, 690 CR, 640 W, (1350/1990)
School: Extremely prestigious, private, christian
Rank: N/A
two ap's this year (chem and lit), lots of honors.
over 300 hrs of community service: Mission trips over seas, volunteering to help mentally disabled, etc.

I was invited to apply to the honors college and i did. I wrote a great essay (IMO, and in my lit teacher's) and my curriculum vitae was almost 7 pages long.

Ive been accepted to:
Ohio State (honors program + engineering + heathly scholarship)
Auburn (engineering + scholarship)
Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology (Engineering, after being deferred)
Clemson (Engineering, probably my second choice. would go here if they offered more money than tech)

I was just postponed at U of Wisconsin-Madison.

I made it very clear that tech was my top choice in both my essay to the honors college and in that 200 words or so we were alloted for the regular application (i actually kinda put an essay in there ) I have made an offficial visit, along with watching tech stomp on OU from the fifty yard line 5 rows back.

My senior midterms were straight a's and a c in ap lit.

Ne input is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

any one ? ?

bump..... ...

Well, I don't really know that much specifically about VaTech's engineering program, but, assuming engineering is always a little more selective..I'd say that the advantages outweigh the disadvantages for you..maybe 60/40ish. The legacy and your high school prestige should definitely help you, your test scores arent that high (they were def. my weak point too), but, if you think you nailed your essays, those might take precedence over your test scores.

Thanks! actually i thought it was my gpa that was lacking, not my scores. I thought my scores were in the 75th percentile for VTech and like 50th for the engineering program. Maybe i was wrong....

I hate how on cc 1350 is a debbie downer. When i tell people outside of here that i got a 1350 they are impressed.

bump.............

Yeah! I definitely feel the exact same..my test scores on here are so low compared to everyone else's, but, at school, they're well above average. But, anyways, I didn't really look into the the VaTech engineering program, so I didn't really know what the average test scores were. So, if you're in the average, then it would be your GPA that isn't the strongest part of your application; all we can do now is hope for the best!
