I believe I will write a decent personal statement, and will have two excellent recommendations (doesn't look like those are required, send anyhow?)

I am playing on applying Early Admission, even though I hope to pull up my SAT's and have mostly A's first quarter. It seems that applying early is a better strategy than waiting. What do you think?

New to this, sorry if it's long! Thanks for your help.

Actually, if you read through past discussions here, you’ll see that most people who went in the summer enjoyed the experience and were glad they did it. The only bad part is that you are in school in the summer, so you go right from high school to college without any real break. On the upside, you get to learn your way around campus and get used to the place when it’s not quite so crowded.

Yes, you then go to classes in the fall, which usually start about a week after summer session ends.

Is the summer session just a one time thing or do you go in the summer every year? Also, do you apply for a specific session like summer or fall and then see if they accept you to the one of your choice, or does everyone just apply and they tell you which one you qualify for?

You only have to go in the summer the first year (although they do offer summer classes every year, so you are certainly free to take summer classes during other years, if you want).

If you check interest in both fall and summer, they will pick which one you get and let you know, so don’t put down summer unless you are really willing/able to attend in the summer.

There is a special summer program for incoming freshman–

Conventional wisdom has it that a borderline admit might get accepted to UP for the summer when s/he would have been sent to a branch campus had they applied to begin in the fall.

hey, i applied to psu with similar stats and didn’t get into main, not even summer session. i’d say you might want to retake your SATs and do really well, as that will up your chances a lot more than they actually tell you.

I am planning on retaking in Oct. hoping for an 1800, will that be enough, do you think? I fall into the blue on the bubble chart (just barely) as it stands now.

Idk man…I got a 1940 on my second time around, 1970 superscored, and I’ve been feeling very very sick to my stomach lately. It’s like…yeah, a 1940 would most likely suffice in getting me in, but in the event that I didn’t get in, I would feel so crappy about not having taken it again and probably upping my chances of getting in. I have a 4.0+ weighted GPA, so I should be fine…I hope :D

College admissions is basically giving me a stomach ulcer…I haven’t been able to sleep in over 2 years because of it. I’ll be so happy when I’m finally accepted and decided where I’m going.
