You need matches and safeties. Dont take ur chances and find out later that u got into mayby one or int he worst case none.

From what I gater ur looking at schools in the Northeast or Midwest:

Miami (OH)

Fordham

Syracuse

Acarta, don't forget that he's first generation Mexican-American. Seems like you're comparing playtowin to Caucasians. Don't listen to Acarta, playtowin. Affirmative Action is definitely going your way. I would strongly assert that you have a good chance (I dunno, let's say >80%?) as of now at all your schools, including Harvard and the top Ivies. However, if you want guaranteed success, do try to improve your GPA significantly to mostly A's. Try your best on your SATs (try to aim for 1900-2000). Have you considered applying to MITES (MIT's Minority Introduction to Engineer. and Sciences) because if you get into that program, you will be guaranteed the top universities. I wonder whether you go to Park Tudor...but anways, as of now, you are a candidate.

"I expect to get math up to at least a 720, critical reading at least 730 and writing at least a 700.

Haven’t taken any SAT IIs yet, but let’s say my three best will be around 720 or above level."

too much speculation to give a good chance

but as kind of a general rule (not true at some schools), take the acceptance rate and add 10% if you're hispanic and 20% if you're black. not even kidding.

haha i do go to park tudor. howd u no? and yea i figure took much speculation but as let's just say i expect at least 2100 on sat, around 700 per section. ya, i just put those as the top schools to c. i do have safeties and i figured my 3 matches wud b like GWU, NYU, BU

Well, lets just say I might know you...and you might just...know me...haha jk..i go to school near Indy and I know that Park Tudor's good at friggin Tennis (you said state champs so thats where i got that info)...

but anyways, I strongly suggest you apply to the MITES 2008 summer program cuz i think you'll enjoy it

im not a big science guy tho. do u play tennis also? where u go to school?

also, i was in the National Spelling Bee in middle school and a movie in 8th grade. Akeelah and the Bee. i doubt it means anyting sicne it was middle school, but like wud tat b sumtin to put down? even fi thru an essay sumhow. i dunno. and wen appling to college and puttin possible majors, even tho i dont tink id go into linguistics and prolly law, if i put linguistics also since im still nto sure, wud tat help since its not a really common major?

singles....i gottta go eat. perhaps ill post later..good luck

so JV? i played JV 1 and 2 for the year, but had varisty letter. did i play u? haha

and how much does being a first generation mexican-american ctually help wit the schools tat i put down?

Damn, if you were in the national spelling bee, you should start up a Spell Bowl team at Park Tudor. You have the right and privilege to do that lol. Then, cuz park tudor i guess is a fairly good school, you'll have enthusiastic members who can def. get the school a state championship, which would definitely impress anyone cuz YOU initiated a program that's won a state title. Spell Bowl, in case you dont no what it is, is hosted by the Indiana Association of School Principles or something like that..the same association that organized Academic super bowl in the state.

Being first generation helps a LOT. I had an african-american friend who had bad SAT scores but still got into stanford EA. i hav lots of other stories...
