Come March 10 you'll find out...I suppose. The people from the schools you applied to who write to you on that date are the only ones who aren't crazy for trying to divine what it all means and what your chances are.

crikett; i'm REALLY REALLY sorry! i was that girl on the other post and i didn't mean it like that at all! i'm sorry, i'm kinda a sarcastic (in a joking way) person and i guess it's really hard to pick that up over the internet. and now i feel HORRIBLY HORRIBLY HORRIBLY guilty! so i''m really really sorry.

but what i meant to say was that you should TALK TO THE TEACHER and see if there was anything you could do. i don't literally mean beg; that was just kinda a joke. (altho a very bad one as i'm finding out:) ) i think you've got a great chance of getting into these schools, even with a C! you've got great ec's and a ton of community service and a much better chance of getting in then i do!!!! my point was that i think you should try to get that grade up to a B, because it would help you. But i still think you will probably get in either way. but you shouldn't trust me, as you said up above--i'm crazy and ridiculous and first time applicant. :)

and i didn't say that they would reject you, i said your chances would be better with a B then a C though. but like you've said, it's an elective and definitely doesn't have as much weigh as math or english, and you have good grades in those! i have a grade that i don't like so i;m sending in my progress reort with my quarter gardes so i can show that i've improved. (i'm also going to put that one on top in the hopes they would take that one more seriously) so ya, just send in your new grades along with it. getting one C isn't going to change their oppinion of you if they like everything else (and believe me, they will) :)

i wish you the best of luck and hope you get into every school you apply for!!!!!!! and i'm REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY sorry about making you feel bad. i feel super humongously horribly guilty right now so please write back fast!!!!!

Janelle

okay, i just went back to look at the post to see where i was so evil and noticed that I never said that they "would immediatley reject me" or "no way for me to get in thanks to that" like you said in your above post. this is what i said:

a C is not going to go over very well with these people.
i have one piece of advice for you which is to beg your teacher. say you'll do anything (essay, after school stuff, begging on your knees, etc). if you REALLY REALLY want this, then you need to work for it!!!! stop talking in classa nd get that grade up to at LEAST a b!!!!!

good luck and i really hope this all works out for you!!!

and like i said above, the begging thing WAS A JOKE!!!!

its okay :), but you sort of implied. its fine, though. I understand

okay, good. i still feel horribly guilty tho. i was typing pretty quick and didn't even really read over what i read. i really am soory if i offended you! friends? :)

bahahahhaa. sure, friends! :)

haha, great!

so if you got into every school applied to, which one would you pick to go to?

Big descision between Hotchkiss & St. Georges, fo' sho'

haven't really heard of st george's. (but don't take that wrong, i hadn't heard of any of these schools until a few months ago!) why are you applying there? have you visited campus?

its perfect size (350). its on the beach and in a HUGE castle (think hogwarts on the rhode island shore). It has AMAZING academics and alot of really good E.C.s.

And they just got a new infinity-edge pool...I mean...nuff said.

wow, just went to website, it looks amazing! do you know if it accepts the common application forms? (you know, the ones that andover, exeter, hotchkiss, etc. take?)

Go to www.schools.com. They have the list of schools which accept the common application.

apparently i am "not authorized to view that page" or something like that.

St George's does accept the common app. They have an Open House in Dec and Jan. I've heard really good things about this school.

hmmmmmm. i'll think about it. how good's financial aid?

St. George's School

Endowment Size: $115 million
Percent Students on Financial Aid:29%
Average Financial Aid Grant:$26,000
Merit Scholarships Offered: No

From boardingschoolreview.com, hope this helps. :)

thanks sara!!!!

i think i'm gonna have to rule st. george's out tho, 26,000 just isn't going to cut it. I think i'm going to go with Exeter, Andover, St. Paul's, Hill and Loomis chaffee. But Loomis might be replaced with taft. what do you guys think?

Nellyrae
Remember that amount is an average. Some people get more. Have you used a FA calculator to see how much your family would qualify for? If your family's income is low, you'll get FA at most places anyway.

Do you want to go to BS no matter what? Look at some schools that aren't so hard to get into, maybe a school that would be psyched to get such a high achieving kid.

Have you already visited schools? Even if a school gives lots of FA, you don't want to go somewhere you hate.

st georges looks so good! i went to an open house last september in CT
