I've visited Exeter and Andover but we're only go8ing to see more if i get accepted into more. I definitely want to go to a boarding school, but my parents really don't. it was a TON of work to convince them and they are only letting me go because at the schools i'm applying to there's a great education. they wouldn't be too fond if i tried to apply to a school with anything less. Also, the harder the cshool to get into the bigger the endowment is. I've been lookin at a bunch of statistics and the only schools that would offer me a big enough scholarship are the ones that have the lowest admission rates. It's kind of a lose-lose situation. hahaha. But hopefully i'll get into one the Big Endowment schools and FA won't be a problem! :) thanks so much for your help!

janelle, do you have a AIM sn?

I just went to the St. George's website, and it looks beautiful! I hope you get in!

ya, i didn't even know st. george's existed but it looks so cool!!! (and you were rightcrikett it looks like hogwarts) i'm really tempted to apply there!!!!

my aim is: mrspotter13578 i know how pathetic, right? i am a totally obsessed harry potter fan. (yet another reason St. George's looks so cool) you guys can totally IM me whenever, i'll try to log on more often! do you have one? sara you can totally IM me too!!!! :)

where are you applying sara? what grade?

I'm in 8th right now, and I'm applying for 9th to Foxcroft, Kent, Taft, Deerfield, and Exeter. Thinking about applying to Hotchkiss and Episcopal. Where are you applying, and for what grade?

hey sarah! i'm crickett!

i think i'm repeating 9th grade and im applying to hotchkiss, st georges, blair, miss porters, and loomis

i'm applying for 9th grade to andover, exeter, st. paul's, hill and lone to be decided. what are your guys's first choice?

i looked at Hill.

4 hours away was to far for my mom :(

oh. it doesn't really matter where at this point. i'm going across the country no matter what school i apply to so which state doesn't exactly make a difference at this point. did you go to the campus?

haha, 4 hour drive on a school day to look at a school my mom would NEVAH let me apply to? gahahha... funny.

Hey, Nellyrae. The fact that you are from Oregon may be a plus. The schools like to have kids from lots of different states. I am from Ct so I know that hurts me.

My first choice is probably Kent... but I haven't visited Deerfield or Exeter yet.

Kent is 15 minutes away from my house!!! :)

lucky... Kent's about 12 hours from mine. =)

Yikes!! Do you live in New England or in the Mid east?

Hi-

I am new to this. I took the SSAT on Nov 10, my school received my scores on Nov 16th. This is the first time I took the test. Got an overall of 96%. I am in a small rural town and so I don't really have any friends looking at boarding schools.

Can anyone answer this question? Do the schools just look at the overall score or do they look at the breakdown? Do the schools take into account that you only took the test once versus 2-3 times like some people.

Thanks

Kilkee- There was a thread on this before. Of course they will look at your individual scores. Why would you even ask this if you dont have something to hide? Do you think top boarding schools would just skim over each section to look at the total? I think not. As for taking it 2-3 times. It will show up that you've taken it 2+ times and they dont usually show a preference I don't think. Someone like yourself getting 96 overall shouldn't re take it, in my opinion but since you obviously didnt do well in one sections, prompting you to ask that question, mabey you SHOULD retake it.

Use your head.

Wow Crickett, you may want to rethink how you respond to people's questions. You are very quick to criticize other people. Do you realize you also ask questions that could easily be answered by reading prior posts?

By the way, it is "midwest", not "Mid east".

hey kilkee!

nobody goes to bs where i'm from either. but i don't think you have to worry if you got a 96%.

haven't heard of kent, what's it like? I almost applied to Deerfield, but acceptance rates are super duper low and i'm already applying to too many low-acceptance rate schools. has anybody been to the hill campus?

States like Ohio and Kentucky could also be called "mideast".
And the question she asked was easily solved by using common sense.
