I am a Texas senior in the top 6% of my class (31 out of 617), once midyear grades come out I will be in the top 5%. I got a 32(34m/e, 32cr,27sc) act and 2180 (760m,670r,750w) sat. I am awaiting NM notification but probably got commended. I was in NHS for 2 years, young republicans for 2(though I don't identify with the movement any more). I competed in academic competition in current issues last year and will compete in science this year. I have 30 hours or so of community service mostly helping plant at the school. I played subvarsity basketball for 2 years before quitting to get a job. I worked at a grocery store for a year. I was involved in debate for a year. I am a teacher's aide for my physics teacher. I am taking the most rigorous schedule possible 5 aps and a dual credit class (including 2 sciences and two maths). I have taken hard classes in all my previous years too. All this being said, do you think that I will get into Middlebury?

Your stats are in line (test scores in the middle 50%, good rank), and if your course rigor really is as rigorous as possible, you’re competitive though far from guaranteed. Your ECs look weak to me, though. I see thirty hours and two years and wonder what you were doing during your free time in high school. That might hurt you, though you might be able to present them better on the app.

Basically, have safeties. You’re a toss-up. It might come down to essays, recommendations, or even just plain luck.

Freshman and sophomore year I lived and breathed basketball
In those summers I went through athletic training camps
Junior year I worked 16 hours a week
This year is really the only year I’ve not had an overwhelming time consumer
But I do agree that my ec’s are still a little weak…
My rigor is as rigorous as it can be at my high school…
maybe not that impressive but I am taking all Aps: Stat, CalcBC,Phys.C,Chem,Elit,Gov/macroec

I got in, and I plan on attending ;)
