looks good.

get the sats up a bit. write a good essay and try to get an interview. should be set.

thank you =) yeah I’m probably going to go to an interview in September. I’m practically stalking the admin site waiting for the essay to come up.

Does anyone know if minority status factors into financial aid consideration?

what program at newhouse?

Magazine. It seems amazing and it’s my goal to work in that industry.

AP USH 11th with a 3 as well.

Your stats are looking good summer. magazine journalism as a major is really great. I have friends who are in that program and they are now interning for the summer For Harpers Bizaar.

thanks House of London. That kind of internship is my dream.

Who’s at Harper’s, London?

I’ll second that. I’m a senior mag major, and I’ve loved the program. Your stats are right on.

They don’t let you create your own essay topic through common app anymore?

I’m not going to disclose her name but she’s a rising junior. It’s funny because one of them tried out for the internship the summer before her sophomore year and didn’t get it because of her grades. (And we’re talking 3.0-ish) Shows how competitive the industry is. But I guess they have such high standards for Newhouse, Medill etc. students.

To Threekids’kid, actually you can write your own essay topic. I was just looking at the common app and thats still allowed.

I found that helpful.

London: But I guess they have such high standards for Newhouse, Medill etc. students.

What does that mean?

I’m saying that since Newhouse and Medill are highly regarded, they are expecting the kids who are applying from there to have high GPA’s. But it could just be the exact opposite. Someone with a high GPA from a mediocre journalism school may be passed up for someone from Newhouse or Medill with a lower GPA simply because of both program’s reputation.

It’s just like for example a 2.6 at Yale grad getting a job at Goldman sachs over the 3.6 grad from a state school

Will getting a high grade at a Journalism course at Baruch CUNY help my chances? It’s a 3000 level. and I asked this before but does minority status help financial aid?

It definitely helps because Syracuse likes to see that you have begun your future studies by taking APs, IB, Honors or college courses. No. Minority status doesn’t help with financial aid. Well, probably except the HEOP or SSSP programs.

Thanks House of London, I don’t know what those programs are but I’ll look into them

er bump =).
And does anyone know when the application is going to be online?
