THANK YOU!

Great list of extracurriculars! Unfortunately they do not really help you get into Cal Poly as much as a high GPA and test scores. Your ACT is solid, but your GPA is a bit low. I do think your major is not as competitive as many of the popular ones at CP, so it is a godd possibility that you can be accepted. It really depends on who applies when you do and to your major. I would encourage you to apply Early Decision if CP is your #1 choice. That may help you as well.

I am sure you will get into 1 of your top 4 choices.
Good luck and enjoy your senior year next year!

It’s also important to meet all of your a-g requirements and take challenging courses in h.s. Try to take as many years of certain subjects that Cal Poly suggests. If you took Algebra 1 in 8th grade, be sure and include that. Same with a foreign language. They use some type of formula. Extra-curriculars, unfortunately don’t play a big part, as momofmv said. They do ask a couple questions about that and your work experience. But, I honestly think it’s more about the numbers, ie; GPA and test scores. And, the major you’re applying to.

Oh, and the CSUs and UCs have their own way of configuring your GPA. It’s usually higher because they add more points for AP, honors and college classes you’ve taken…that is IF you’ve taken them.

Best wishes to you!
