And also...plenty of people "just below the average GPA" get rejected more than accepted. Take a look at what lots of colleges want for their GPA's. If what you are inferring is true, every college has a similar SAT range and almost everyone can get into most colleges. Wrong. GPA averages are devised as a reason to compare yourself. He is BELOW average not on the line or above. That face cannot be sugar coated. The end.

Oops...GPA* not SAT

Also remember...there has to be a cutoff line. It IS a big deal if you are even a few decimals down, because the average GPA's for the vast majority of colleges are very similar.

I really think you're okay. My GPA wasn't stellar by anymeans but I had a high rank (4/325), I was a big slacker in high school.. but I had good SAT's and ACT's.. a pretty damn good essay and some varsity captain/leadership roles. I think you're fine.

NYU 2010..ED with scholarship.

your so in

alexkay673- that simply means you went to a very non-competitive HS. And actually...you have a low rank...not a high one, just to exploit your lack of common sense. Everyone can play cheerleader for this guy, but he does not meet the standards for NYU flat out. I'm still putting my money on the event that you don't get in.

newyitty, you don't have to post 60 times in a row to tell me the same thing over and over. I get it, please calm down with your rant.

ghodn22- What are you going to do..cry? This is a forum...what do you expect people to do other than post a load of crap everywhere? At the same time if it bothers you so much, get out of this post. No one wants you here anyway.

"cry"... I just find it pathetic that you would post over and over and waste so much of your time to get the same idea across that you already made in your first post. As far as it bothering me, beyond annoying me, i don't exactly view your opinion as having any value. As far as no one "wanting me here", with the exception of your pathetic tirade, it's been fine so far. Let alone the fact that you are posting in MY thread, I don't remember forcing you to post in the first place. Lastly, and i truly mean this, get a life.

you are fine. trust me. nyu would be dumb to deny you

btw (4/325) is not a low rank... at all.

yitty shutup. Thanks. By the way as 4/375 is high, and if you think thats low, then you have to be a moron. And i bet almost anything this kid is suffering from low self esteem because he probably got a pathetic SAT score himself. No one would cry this much in a post if he himself had gotten a 2100.

yitty you have to be kidding me. the top 1.5% of a competitive high school is not a low rank by any means. his SAT's beat mine ( I was 2200 and 34 ACT) and I got in on scholarship. I took 11 AP classes and got all 5's. this kid's stats are better than mine..how you can sit there and exploit someone who's nervous about the whole college admissions process. what you're saying is flat out wrong. i know people in this school with an 1100 and were failing three classes at acceptance, and people rejected with 1450's. i go here, i know many people here.. if you go here, why are you spending so much goddamn time on college confidential telling other kids they can't get in? cus if you're stats are better than that and you're here you're probably a reject from somewhere else. leave people the hell alone.

yitty's just bitter because she sucks at the SAT. And yes, we'll see when he opens the envelope - we'll see that he's accepted and you were wrong.

Sorry, I don't usually get this mad, but when someone's ignorant enough to say "go tend your crops" because someone lives in Georgia, they DESERVE a 1350/2400.

lol well said

Yitty is great fun. It took me a while to reply because, as many of you know, I was busy tending to my several crops. The city of Atlanta is rich in agriculture-- a little known fact.

I had also seen another thread where yitty was going crazy because someone said Providence wasn't a great/top school.

'Crazy' is definitely fitting. Perhaps it is even an understatement.

with a 2350 i would take a shot at an ivy.. just go for it. at least look at georgetown, i feel that ur cheating urself

Incredibly high SAT score, and the slightly low GPA doesn't matter too much because 1) it's freshman and sophomore years and 2) it's an incredibly competitive elite high school, as you stated. I would say NYU is a safety school for you to be honest. Don't listen to newyitty06.

bump..

any1 else wanna help?
