I am also an African-American male, i am founder/president of the G.O.D. (Gentlemen of Distinction) we do community service, prepare for college. Vice president of Interact Club, (Community service/improve the world), and am in the beta club. I maintain a 4.2(+) gpa as well as play varsity football. Could u please tell me what cance i have because i would like to go to either UCLA or UNC-Chapel Hill. Thanks.

they are a lot of factors for admission, but first i would advise you to get off the boards and enjoy high school more, this board is mostly for seniors. BUT your chances look great so far for UNC, considering you are in the top 10% of your class and great at least 1900+ on the SAT, what was your PSAT?

i'd say you're definitely in for in state UNC if you keep it up. I don't know what your UW GPA is, but weighted looks high enough, and you have a challenging course load. race and football might help a bit too. founding/president of a club is a big plus for UNC i think too. lookin good for UNC, no idea about UCLA but i'd imagine pretty good too.

yeah don't stress yourself out just yet. sophomore year is really early...college admissions can change drastically i just one year! vanderbilt's acceptance rate dropped 13% in just one year...if that were to happen to UNC then admission for anyone would be virtually unpredictable.

enjoy high school!

If you keep up the same work ethic, you have a good shot. At the same time, make sure you are doing things you enjoy while in high school, not things that you think will make you look better. Believe me, college admissions people are good at spotting that.

Come back to these boards at the end of your junior year, and you'll probably be set.

My PSAT was a 184, so i guess that would be an 1840 on the sat, but im going to take the SAT in May, so i'll see what i get, but thanks for the advice

SAT in sophomore year?? that seems early... if i were you, i'd just study for the PSAT more. oh yeah and dont forget to take the PSAT junior year, NMSC if you do good enough (its pretty hard).

donnnnnnnnt stress yourself out. its way too early for that. working too much solely for college admissions in the middle of high school will probably just drive you crazy. i'd really just say be active in school/community in things you enjoy and keep the best grades possible. maybe study for the PSAT or SAT some but not too much.

ok well i understand what youre saying, but im just taking it now to see how i do. ill take it again, but i just want to see how hard it is/ what kind of score i would get. And as for the PSAT, weve been taking that since 8th grade, so i'm not so stressed about it, but i appreciate the advice

maybe take a practice SAT instead of the real thing?
