Chances for Penn State (Univerity Park)?? Any input is appreciated.

Black student attending a small competitive private school in PA.

I have a 3.0 GPA going into senior year (low freshman + sophomore year ~2.7), can probably bring up to ~3.2 with senior grades.
SAT: 1880 (660v + 580m :( + 640w) Can bring up my math easily so if retake I can get reasonably around 1950

EC:
Basketball: 4 years (including next year) + Most improved award, possible captain next year (Team rated top 25 in US last year)
Track and Field: 3 Years (may run next year) + Placer at league champs in my events + Most improved award
XCountry: 2 years
Won $3,000 scholarship toward tuition from school
SOME Community Service, will get more next year + possibly CSO

Numerous Clubs + Counting on good rec.s

Any input is appreciated, thanks in advance

EDIT:
Also any advice you would have for me + other schools I may want to consider would be GREATLY appreciated also.

Thanks

bump bump bump

Anyone have any thoughts?

gpa , like mine is a bit low, maybe you have a shot. GOod sats though, i know some people who got in with those stats, but also allot who didnt with higer sats and same gpa. GOod ecs and **** so you should be good. Check out uconn, MSU, OSU, and pending or your 10th and 11th grades umich

Thanks for the reply :)

Apply early and I would think you are in. You are in state, so that should help. Also since you are from PA, you should give Pitt a look.

Is ED at PSU binding?

Thanks for the reply

there is no ED at PSU. Penn State has rolling admissions. Apply early, and you will hear back from them early, but it is not binding.

Alright, thanks alot for the help/info guys.
Wish me luck

are you willing to do summer session?

it's only about a month long and could really help strengthen your application if you check the box on the application saying that you're interested.

and you don't need "recs", so to speak, for PSU, just one from your guidance counselor. if you can bring up your SAT score... that'd probably help the most since you really need to try and apply early (august-november) and that won't really give you much time to boost your GPA.

Yeah, I'm going to look into that. Thanks :)

best of luck! it looks like you'll have a pretty good shot :)

Thanks, I appreciate it.
