So, I'm not going to post my chances on here, but I just want to know...do the kids who get accepted need to win nationals and states for anything all the time? Is that how amazing every applicant needs to be? Because sure there are those who are smart, do their work and do some pretty amazing stuff without getting national or state recognition, but are national and state awards the hooks that Stanford is looking for? Or do some of the lesser applicants (aka me) who are way above average, but not in that elite .0005% of society who have cured cancer, defeated Tiger Woods, and played with Yo-Yo Ma, have a shot as well? I know essays count and everything, but how much can mind-blowing essays/recs make up for what you lack in awards and distinctions?

Anyway, this site is a pretty big blow to my and probably lots of other people's egos.
