Chances for person who isn't as "brilliant" as others...lol

I'm an 8th grader going in to 9th grade and I want to apply to the BSs for 10th grade. Truthfully I don't get this process just yet, I haven't taken the SSATs yet either.

I am Indian, as in India, not american-indian.

7th- Science- A, Social Studies- A, Spanish- A, Honors English- B+, Honors Math- B

8th- Science- B+, Social Studies- A, Spanish 1- C, Honors English- B+, Honors Algebra- A

SATs:
Critical Reading 650 90%
Math 630 82%
Writing 530 62%
Multiple Choice 55 (score range: 20-80)

CTY-

I am doing an online course in Geometry this summer so I can skip into Algebra II next year.

Extra Curricular Activities:

Music: Piano (8 years) (I SUCK!! NO AWARDS OR ANYTHING)
Guitar (5 years) (same as above)
Drums (1 year) (I enjoy it and hopfully I will be in a band, not for school, next year)

Sports: Tennis (5 years) I enjoy it and i was ranked previously but stopped play... picked it up again and now I am on the Middle School team. No way in hell I'll be in the high school team though...

Volenteering: I am supposed to do 100 hours at the local hospital this summer

Job: gonna work at my dad's office as a computer guy for the summer

Schools I might apply to next year:

Exeter
Andover
Hotchkiss

those schools that you’re looking to apply to are very competitive to get into so I would suggest and lower tier school as well to add to your list. There’s plenty of them that provide almost or just as good of an education you can find at E/A or hotchkiss.

so a definite no or around there? lol optimism FTW

Well this plus your indian, I would broaden the school you’re applying to.

Your standardized testing is strong for a guy your age. I can easily see you getting a 2250 + by the time you are a senior provided you work consistently on it. I would say if you pulled up that spanish grade then your chances look good particularly since you are indian which is a plus. You are a very competitive candidate for Hotchkiss and A/E particularly if you are better at tennnis than you think. The piano may help as well. Send a recording of you playing to Mr. Witkowtski at Hotchkiss if he is impressed that will go a LONG way to help you. Find his email on the Hotchkiss website.

you dont have to be brilliant! you can totally get into BS. I can’t speak for the ones you chose but is all the schools filled up with genius kids it would be so borning. they like well rounded people, so take up new things- like COMMUNITY SERVICE! this is HUGE!!!

well I’m pretty sure that I’m doing 100 hours of volenteering at a local hospital over the summer… so i guess that would count as community service. I thought that volenteering=community service
