According to our competitive school's scattergram, 23 is the minimum score of any accepted student. Six students applied with that score and four were accepted, and the four were not necessarily the top four GPA's. This could be where EC's or essays come into play. Your EC's are good so I think you have a good chance. Good luck.

Did you get deferred or did you decide to wait to apply for RDII? Just curious.

I don't offer opinions on chances as no one but the schools really can, but compare yourself to the freshman snap-shot and that should give you a good indication. It SEEMS that schools in general are looking for the following: decent test scores & gpas in a rigorous college-prep curriculum, consistent effort/passion/focus/involvement in activities that reflect who you are, ability to communicate, and an interest in their school.

As an example, my D was admitted to several schools where she is either at the bottom of their middle 50% criteria or in some cases slightly below it on test scores and gpa; yet she still was admitted when others with better stats were not. However, her grades are decent (B++) with test scores (ACT mid/high-20s) that reflect that she is working up to her potential AND all the while VERY involved over all four years at a very accomplished level in athletics and the arts. With all of her applications she submitted almost as soon as the school would accept them (two she submitted in June after final junior grades).

Don't worry, you will know soon enough. :)

Try to relax and enjoy the ride and good luck.

I think your chances are solid but not a slam dunk.

Looking at Miami's Common Data Set for 2007-2008, it would seem that a fifth of the freshmen class had statistics very similar to yours.

21% of last year's freshmen class scored a 23 or lower on the ACT composite.

20% had a gpa between 3.25 and 3.49.

You don't give your class rank but for comparison's sake Miami had 35% of the class from the top tenth and 72% from the top quarter. The fact that you attend a rigorous, competitive high school will undoubtedly be taken into consideration.

yeah I just waited to applied RD II because I had my eyes set on a few other schools before I actually took a close look at Miami and decided to appily. I applied for creative writing (I hear not many appliy for that major?) and I just e-mailed my admission councelor a special feature piece that I wrote for my school's newspaper about 'Senioritis'. I hope that this will help me out somehow.
