Basically I want to know if I can get into Rutgers Engineering or Maryland as I most likely will attend these schools. I want to go to Michigan for engineering but it is a reach school for me and I doubt I could get in.

All the schools mentioned are fine state universities. I’d consider more specific factors like the strength of program in my chosen major for a tie breaker. Other considerations may be the financial aid package (but most state schools lack resources for much outside of federal programs) and I would keep an eye on NJ budget politics. Proposed cuts could affect Rutgers - class size, student:insturctor ratios, tuition, etc. in the near term. Good Luck! You will do fine wherever you go!

As a current RU student I can tell you that you have a great shot at getting in…dont lose sleep over it

Thanks for the reply ptx but i know that all of the above schools have strong engineering programs, especially Michigan, which is a reach school for me. Thanks to you pennhopefull I always here horror stories of kids getting rejected from Rutgers in my area because a lot of people apply there.
