Chances for Science/Engineering Schools

Tests:
SAT I: Verbal: 710 Math: 760 Writing: 790

Unweighted GPA: 3.55
Weighted GPA: 4.11

Extracurricular:

Science Olympiad (likely captain next year)

Drama Club

Film Society

forming technology club and/or robotics club next year

Volunteered at local Jewish Community Center and soup kitchen

10th Place team - Nassau Math Tournament - County

National Merit Semifinalist (most likely because I got a 225)

Spanish Honor Society

I attended a private school for the gifted that had an IQ requirement for grades 5 through 8, at which I took high school classes beginning in 6th grade.

I skipped my sophomore year of high school (over this past summer).

I took AP Physics B and Precalc as a freshman, and I am currently taking AP Physics C and BC Calc as a Junior.

Note: My school doesn't rank at all. That class rank above is an estimate of questionable accuracy.

Classes:
Freshman:
Precalc Research Honors (honors + 4 independent projects)
AP Physics B
Global II H
English H
Spanish H
Writing Enrichment

Junior:
AP Calc BC
AP Physics C
US H
English H
Spanish H
Natural Science Research Seminar
Health

Senior (next year):
Multivariate Calc
AP Chem
AP Government
AP Economics
AP Statistics
English H (possibly AP)
Spanish H (possibly AP)
Speech and Drama
Java

My situation concerning my GPA is a little bit weird. After 8th grade, I switched into public school and got terrible grades, a 3.2. After that year, I was skipped ahead to 11th grade. In eleventh grade, I have been getting better grades. My public school will not integrate my 4.0 GPA from 8th grade (which was all high school classes) into my cumulative GPA, but I factored it into my GPA here.

I'm not sure how I will present it when I apply or how the colleges will look at it.

I am now a junior.

If worst comes to worst and I feel that I need another year to improve my GPA or anything, it will probably not be very difficult for me to go back to my former grade. (will this look bad?)

Schools:
-Caltech
-Olin
-MIT
-Stanford
-Georgiatech
-Carnegie Mellon
-UC Berkeley
-Rice
-Harvey Mudd
-Yale Engineering
-Harvard Engineering

I need some suggestions for safety schools as well.

My school does not rank.

Thanks a lot, you guys!

very good chances, and above average chances at those top schools like hyms

Your GPA might ruin your chances at almost all of those schools.

Oh yea, and I need suggestions for matches if there aren't any on the list (which there probably are not).

I agree with atomicfusion. Your gpa is a weakness when most of the people who apply to Yale and elite schools have 3.8+ and a lot of 4.0's.
You need something really special to make up for that, or URM status....

A match will be a school where your GPA is at least 75%, most of your schools are large reaches. Skipping and advanced classes don't help if you don't get As in them. Gifted schools can be weird and not academically focussed. Bottom line, you don't have the GPA for top schools.

seriously, uutf...
yale and harvard engineering? these programs practically don't exist. if you're going there for the name then good luck with the name brands in life. i'm not going to give my input besides that.

Oh yea, I copied and pasted from an old list I wrote up before I realized that that sucked lol. Disregard those.

Any specific schools I should think about?

UIUC and UMich are good engineering schools as well..

anybody else?
