[ul]Feel free to suggest any schools that you think would fit my profile well! Thanks![/ul]

Don't be afraid to be brutally honest! I appreciate all input! :)

you're in a good position to get into all of the schools. as you know, all of them are very selective so that doesnt mean that you will get in. race and gender aren't nec. going in your favor, but strong SATs and EC's are. i'd say you're in good shape.
i think:
Harvard: Mid-reach
Yale: Mid-reach
Stanford: Low-reach
UC Berkeley: Match
UCLA: Low-match/safety
UCSD: Safety

<a href="http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/591865-chance-me-please-i-can-chance-back.html%5B/url%5D">http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/591865-chance-me-please-i-can-chance-back.html</a></p>

Forgot to mention that Stanford is SCEA

harvard- NO MATCH!!!!

just kidding jojo :)

thanks jackbauer, you make me seem very confident, but maybe my chances are actually lower than that? haha. or am i just pessimistic? iono.

bump.10char

Harvard-crapshoot

Yale-same

Stanford-same

Columbia-low reach

UC Berkeley-low reach/high match

UCLA-high match/match

UCSD-safety
1st gen college + all those stats...wow. id say good luck on ur app but dont think u really need it. personally im jealous.

sorry jacobe91, sorry if you misunderstood the part where i put hooks (1st gen, URM, etc), the stuff in parenthesis was just like examples of what "hooks" are.

I'm not 1st gen, but my parents:

Mom
Bachelors from Uni of Minn: Twin Cities
Dad
High school Diploma

So i guess i still have some of that 1st gen-ish stuff going for me, since its not a black and white issue right? (as in either your 1st gen and you get pity or you're not and the guy whos parents are both bankers is looked at in the same way as someone whose parents work blue collar jobs?

anyone else?

The fact that you're Asian and want to go into journalism is going to help you a lot...but, it's still a crapshoot...good luck!

@ njaznpremed: I'm actually not to sure about actually majoring in journalism. It is one of my main interests, but I wouldn't say that I'm ready to major in it. I actually put undecided on my applications, for academic interests and career options

You have a typical application, high SAT's though but competition is fierce among asians so good luck to all those colleges.

yea it is i guess, haha

anyone else?

I would say that you are a match/ high match for Harvard, but only if you ED, because it is very very very hard for Asians to get into college haha. Everything is pretty much golden, I think you have a good chance, and being valedictorian is very impressive. Good luck! Chance me please? Thank you <a href="http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/592997-help-help-potential-nyu-stern-applicant.html%5B/url%5D">http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/592997-help-help-potential-nyu-stern-applicant.html</a></p>

harvard doesn't have ED anymore, haha.

anyone else?

bump.10char

If you don't make it, I don't know who will.

you're going to be rejected instantly from everywhere... twice
