Chances for some prestigious schools (Northwestern, UCLA, Georgetown, BC, NYU)

So right now i am at a community college in California, and i am applying for the spring to schools that accept it, and fall 2010 for the other schools. I am just now considering out of state schools so i still dont know about all of them, so if you have any good school recommendations that you think id have a shot of getting into, please help. I had a very poor high school record, and i dont know if that will ruin my chances at schools that ask to see it like most of them except the UC's.

High School GPA: 2.7
High School SAT: 1340/2400
College: Pierce Community College
Major: Philosophy
GPA: 3.7
ECs: Community service, Philosophy tutor, Member of the American Philosophy Association, Business internship, Communication Internship with the LA Lakers.

Right now this is my tentative list of schools im going to apply to, please add to it/ chance me!!

UCLA, UCB, Georgetown, Northwestern, Boston College, NYU, Northeastern, UCSB, UCSD, USC

If you help, maybe down the line i can get you guys some free laker tickets lol

schools like to see an upward trend, so that’s good. i think you’ll get in to northeastern and then rest you should have a fair shot at. your essays will be extremely important. if you’re applying for sophomore standing, your high school record will still be considered, so if you think that will hold you back, spend another year at your school and then apply after showing that you can maintain high grades while taking a rigorous courseload.

what school at NYU? College of Arts and Sciences?

I will be applying as a junior…i will have 60+ Units

NYU Colleges of arts and sciences, yes.

Northwestern and Georgetown are high reaches and ur chances at BC would have been similar to NYU bt BC is significantly harder to transfer into than gaining admissions as a freshman.

you have a pretty good shot at NYU (in ur list). try adding michigan and emory if u want to go oos.
don’t know much about northeastern but from what i remember it should be pretty easy to transfer in there

if ur in the honors/scholars program u should basically be in at UCLA so (and even if ur not i think u should be good)…
i would only recommend applying to oos colleges u want to go over UCLA.

slight reach/match at berkeley and you should be in with no problem at the rest of the UCs

i would consider retaking SATs if u really want to oos. try to shoot for 1900-2000+ and ur shots at gtown, nu, and bu will significantly increase imo (even tho ur junior transfer)

thanks for all the help!

any more???
