From the end of my freshman year to the middle of my junior year I was sick with an undiagnosed illness and could not do many EC's offered by my school. I kept my grades up and did a lot of creative writing (which I plan on publishing and have been receiving help from an editor in editing) . All this was addressed by my counselor recommendation and may or may not have been addressed by a second essay, I can't remember for the life of me.

One thing I don't get, you want to major in Biology but you haven't taken the SAT 2 nor the AP?

I think you have pretty good chances all around, the research looks especially good, and the fact that you are a URM helps greatly.

At the same time, the adcoms might wonder why, as renegadeshark mentioned, why you wrote of biology as your intended major if you haven't shown interest in advasnced biology classes, but your research might help here.

Good luck.

I chose Biology because it ties in most with the requirements for Pre-med.

My research has been primarily cancer related. So I've studied a lot of biology through that course. Also, I took genetics through the CTY summer program at JHU.

And like I said, in my school you're not allowed to take AP Biology and AP Chemistry and Physics. All the past seniors in my school warned me not to take Biology because it's just busy work and no one passes the AP. So I took Chemistry because it did not come as easy to me the first time around so I could strengthen my knowlege in it.

Great chance. Everything fits together (URM, decent scores, ECs).

Also, does it break the application if my counselor did not include the thing about my writing in her recommendation? She did include that I was sick because she asked my permission to do so.

I got in with 2 extracurriculars (one for four years, captain for last two; other for two years) and 0 community service. You'll be fine.
