I'm also curious if they ask for 7th semester grades and are certain majors/programs more competitive for admission?

Lastly, very little space to list extracurriculars on online app. Should he write an essay?

I think that your son has a very good chance of getting in (won’t say that he’s definitely in since crazy things have happened). They do ask for 7th semester grades so definitely advise your son to keep (or even improve) his grades first semester senior year.

There are certain majors and programs that are very competitive at Clemson. These include: architecture, construction science and management, early childhood education, elementary education, landscape architecture, health science, nursing, performing arts, professional golf management, communication studies, secondary education, engineering

Essays and extracurriculars are optional and won’t factor much into your application (mainly just test scores, GPA and class rank). If you think writing an essay will help your application out a lot then I would write it.

pierre- my grades are probably below average, but I have little to no extracurriculars. Do you think it would be worth listing them/trying to write an essay, or would it be better to just not write one?

hmm sure I guess so. If you think you can write a good essay then go ahead. If you are just going to throw something together at the last second then don’t bother.

Your grades and test scores are more than likely going to make up the majority of the decision process but a good essay can’t hurt.
