Chances for Stanford or Cali Colleges??

Hello I am writing this in regards to my best friend who is interested in going to school in California.

Do you know of any great california colleges besides stanford and preferably out of the UC system since that is so hard to get into for out of state students?

Of course his top choice is Stanford so we are posting here to see what his chances are of getting into Stanford.

High School
Graduated a year early from high school
Took college classes during his junior year of high school
3.6GPA
volunteer

College

Attended college while in high school
winner of numerous scholarships, anywhere from 4 to 6k in scholarships
volunteer with Student Ambassadors
Volunteer at AFI SilverDocs film festival
3.6 College GPA
Intern at Motorcyle shop
Amatuer motorcycle mechanic (owns one and works on them reads on them etc its his hobby)
Other Relevant information
He works 30 hours a week and has since he was 15 year old to support himself
he is a hispanic youth that has done all this while still young and will be attending college when he is 17 years old

Thanks for your opinion.

Perhaps you may know of other schools besides Stanford that might accept my friend in California because he is really interested in that geographic region to go to college, any good reaches or safeties?

THANKS!

Occidental College
Loyola Marymount University
Pepperdine University
University Of San Diego
University Of Southern California

Et Al.

Oh yeah,

Cal Tech
Claremont-McKenna College
Pomona College
Harvey Mudd (I don't know if this school is in California or not).

And there's always the School of Hard Knocks, it is actually a quite reputable institution (only those down to 'ryde or die' need apply).

what school does he attend right now?

i think he has a like a 0.01% chance at stanford cuz they only accepted liek 13 kids last year and his 3.6 isn't looking so hot.

try USC, Claremont colleges, UC's and some of the smaller colleges.

If your friend can raise his/her college GPA, I think he/she will be really competitive... everything else looks pretty great.

Thanks everyone. We got alot of responses both here and in the what are my chances forum. I feel like we are now able to make better decisions and have a better perspective.

Thanks again.

How about SAT scores? Dont those matter as well?

With my friend's current statistics (remember he graduated one year early from high school with 27 credits and his grandparents went there) what do you think he needs to raise his gpa to to have a really competitive chance? And also, what do you think he needs to score on his sats to be competitive
