Major Extracurriculars: FTC Robotics (Co-President, Team Captain), Technology Students Association (VP), Chess Team (President/Captain), NHS + other honor societies, Local Zoo Teen Volunteer Program

AP Courses Taken: AP European (5), AP US (4), AP Computer Science (5), AP Calculus BC (5), AP Biology, AP Government, AP Physics 1/2, AP Language

I am interested in computer science and am self-taught in web development and some mobile application development. I have several websites published online (none are highly notable, most are for fun), and am working towards publishing two different iOS applications by May.

My essays are mostly about how teaching myself web development and how that has had an impact on me and has driven me towards majoring in CS.

I fully recognize that Stanford is a reach for any and almost all applicants, but I would like some feedback as to whether or not I’m simply humoring myself by applying, of if my chances of admissions are actually genuine.

Stanford is a Reach for every applicant. As long as you recognize this fact, there is no reason not apply if you want.

Test scores? Do not really see anything in your profile that will make you stand out from the rest of qualified applicants.

I have a 33 ACT.

Well, most have perfect scores and Stanford is a school that admits talent rather than solely statistics. What makes you stand out at Stanford are beyond amazing extracurriculars and you have none. Your essays are your best shot at standing out right now.

I think you have a chance, for sure. You have a high GPA, good ACT score. Although I agree that you don’t have outstanding ECs (in terms of uniqueness), your web development and apps are very interesting and depending on how you write your essays I think it could be a big plus in your app.

You certainly have a chance but you will be admitted based on essays, talent, and recommendations,
So make sure you get a good start.
I do not believe you need to retake ACT.
