What Are My Chances At Stanford University?

Hello there! I aspire to attend Stanford University. I know my resumé isn’t very impressive, but I’d really appreciate it if you would chance me at this amazing university. Thanks in advance!

Overall unweighted high school GPA: 3.98 (It’s not too great because I took high school level courses in 7th and 8th grade, and I was pretty irresponsible and careless at the time, so my grades suffered.)
ACT: My english score was 33, my math score was 29, and my science & reading scores were 27, so my composite was 29. My school is a strictly ACT based school, so I was not able to take the SAT. I know my ACT scores are nothing special, but I am retaking it in one month, and after taking many practice tests, my projected composite score is 32.
I am in the top 15% of my class, ranking at 6/39.

In terms of classes, I have taken AP World History, AP Human Geo, AP Calculus AB, AP Government, AP Computer Science, AP English III, AP U.S. History, AP Psychology, AP Chemistry, AP Calculus BC, AP English IV, and AP Biology (12 AP classes total). My AP test scores are evenly split between 4’s and 5’s.

Extracurriculars:
ALA Girls State - I ran for Governor and won
Quiz Bowl - 9th and 10th grade; in 9th grade, we were state runner-up champions
STEM Festival - I won 2nd place in Biology in 11th grade
National Honor Society - 10th - 12th grade
Student Council - 11th and 12th grade; I was class representative in 11th, and President in 12th
Volunteering - I’ve volunteered at hospitals during 10th - 12th grade, and acquired over 200 hours.
Science Olympiad - I’ve won three awards during 10th - 12th grade
Yearbook - 11th, 12th
National History Day - 9th, 11th, 12th; I have advanced to state competition in all three years.

Major:
I plan to major in Biomedical Computation.

With all this, do you think I have a good chance at being accepted into Stanford? I’d love to hear any opinions on this.

(Note: I am not a California resident)

Stanford is a private university so your residency status has nothing to do with Stanford’s decisions.

Stanford is a very tough school to gain admission without some independent national awards or something that stands out that you’ve generated. I get that you are either at a small, private or charter school if there are only 39 in your class.

Are you a URM, a legacy, a recruited athlete (one of the best in the nation)? Hundreds of thousands of students apply here. It seems to be a name that people pull out of a hat. So I am going to be honest, your chances are not great. Most of the students are in the top 5% of their class. (95% of the admitted students were in the top 10% of their classes).

If your ACT scores, in math and science are not your strengths, why are you majoring in Biomedical computation? The core subjects for that major are strengths in their STEM core: math, physics, and science which your current ACT scores do not reflect.

Apply, but have a list of schools, that you would be comfortable attending, and that your parents can safely afford.

Very low chance

Thanks for your inputs. I know this is a total long shot, but I just wanted to see how my stats are

Even if you get your ACT score up to nearly perfect, you will still have a miniscule chance. Your EC’s are impressive, and will be a wow at plenty of other wonderful schools.

Considering that every year, Stanford has to turn away 19 out of 20 applicants, and the vast majority of applicants have as good scores/grades/ECS as you do, don’t be discouraged.

There are simply not enough spots for all of the wonderful kids who’d like to attend.

Has anyone from your school every gotten in before? Your school may be super amazing, and lots of kids get accepted to elite schools every year.

You will be desired at plenty of great schools - the question is whether or not they are both an academic fit as well as a financial fit for you and your family.

Best of luck to you.

Ya Stanford is crazy selective. I got accepted to Harvard and other top schools but Stanford rejected me for CS
