Chances for these schools

I thought I was a fairly strong candiate for my colleges listed below untill I heard some of the national averages for students being accepted. Please tell me what you think about my choices. First Semester of my Senior year.

Colleges:

Georgetown, Amherst, Williams, Yale(favorite1), Princeton, Harvard(favorite2)

Class Rank
1/653 (valedictorian, yay! takes a lot of work and time, wish i had more)

GPA:
Weighted: 7.2
Unweighted: 3.85 (low I guess, but currently I'm taking 8 AP classes and 3 honors, and night classes, so the strain is significant)

Notable Classes: I've taken about 20 AP classes, and the rest are mostly honors and dual enrollment with the local community college. My AP exams scores are decent, but I take the classes for the GPA really)

SAT1: CR: 780, MH: 710, WR: 800
SAT2: Haven't taken it

EC's:
Published author of a personal political theory book (not a bestseller or anything)
Corps commander (highest rank, guy in charge) of my school's AFJROTC
President of the National Honor's Society
President of Junior Civitan
President and Founder of the JSA
President of the Kitty Hawk Honors Society
President of my high school
Captain and founder of the Debate team
member of a national ranking science team
member of the track team
member of the Florida Public Service Association and Key Club
Recipient of the: Rotary club academic excellence award, american veteran associations leadership award, norman schwarskopf leadership award, air force association award

Organized a community service project at my school that raised over 6,000 cans and 1,000$ for the national canned food drive

Mostly I'm worried about my sports involvement, I used to be huge on sports, but now I'm rendered borderline senile because of my limits on time. I also think that maybe my EC's are a bit weak because I lack a real national connection that everyone seems to think that you need.

wooow you sure its 7.2 weighted? that sounds kinda wrong

what kind of high school do you go to? 8 ap and 3 honors at once? my school limit is 7 classes ayear

How do you get a gpa of over 5?

my weighted GPA is something like a 7.4 ....Some schools just do it like that.

You're applying to Princeton etc. but haven't taken the SAT IIs?

yea i see someone lying here haha

hm?...This is the first time I've ever seen someone abbreviate Math as MH..lol

but anywho...your SAT's, gpa, and class rank are good, as are the EC's. I advise you to take the SAT II's.

There is nothing wrong with my GPA, here AP classes are weighted at 1.6 for a full credit and .08 for a half credit. Honors and dual-enrollment are .08 for a full credit, and .04 for a half-credit. The valedictorian two years ago graduated with an 8.13 (grades froze for valedictorian when she had a 7.4).

I go to a school on period scheduling (i.e. 7classes excluding lunch) and I tae online classes and dual-enrollment. My AP classes right now are from first period to last AP Environment, AP Language, AP Psychology, AP American History, AP Chemistry. Online I'm taking AP Biology, AP Computer Science, and AP Art History.

The only thing I lied about was my age, I'm actually a second semester Junior, with a GPA of a 6.8 (7.2 is what I will graduate with, I've done the math) and the same EC's, rank, and SAT scores, but I wanted to see what you would think my chances are as a senior. I'm taking the SAT II sometime as a first semester senior.

Any other questions? I thought I would be the one asking. :)

-Also I thought I would add that my school is one of the largest in the county, so the 653 is correct, but we may be downsizing next year as a new high-school was built. I expect the number may go to about 570.

wow ur a nerd

Don't take the SAT IIs as a senior if you're taking the respective class. Take it at the end of the year along with the APs so you don't have to worry studying too much during the summer.

...you sort of have to have them for georgetown and harvard, at least.

i agree with firebird....you must have no social life

Although you have obviously done more than the average high school student you still have a few problems.
1. You haven't taken the ACT II's, but you have already said that you plan to take them.
2. Your high school is no where near one of the biggest high schools in the country. I graduated in a class of 650, and we were one of the smallest schools in our conference and I went to a Minnesota suburban high school.
3. As odd as this may sound, you do too much. To me, I'm going to look at your application and either say that you're lying or that this kid has no social life or social skills which is vital to being a successful college student. I look at all the things you have done and say you obviously care about getting into a good school, but you have no passion. It looks as if you're doing it just because it looks good on your application and not because you believe those activities will benefit you personally
4. Is the admission committee going to know what the hell a GPA in the 7's means? I sure as hell don't and I was in high school 2 years ago
5. If you really want to get into Harvard or Princeton, it is very difficult to get in unless you know someone or go to a high school where they admit a lot of students. In my high school class, we only had people going to those schools because they were athletes, and the other people who applied there were much smarter than those who got in. It is very difficult to be admitted to those schools, but you should definitely apply because you can't get in unless you do.

Go Badgers!
We are the greatest party school in the country no matter what some ridiculous list says!

Ha ha, I think its funny that you guys say I have no social life. I wasn't elected president of the student body without having any friends. Really I don't do as much work as you might think. Every day I stay after school until about 4:30, I go home and take a nap for an hour and a half, Do my homework for about 3 hours, and eat dinner. Im free to do what I want for about 4 hours, and on the weekends I only have to do some of my online classes.

Oh, and I meant largest in the county, not country. We have had students admitted to Yale at least once a year from my school. Last year we had 8th in the class admitted to Harvard and Princeton, but he went to the Air Force Academy instead. I go to a school in a very rural area, conservative values are pretty strong here. In fact I have to argue with about every student over whether or not Obama is a terrorist or swore in on the Qur'an. Most of the top students go to an Academy, so that could be a negative.

I don't plan on being accepted to Harvard at all, and I don't really care. Harvard was my childhood dream in about 3rd grade, so I thought I would give it a shot. I really want Yale, Columbia, Georgetown, Amherst, MIT, or the USMA.
