Chances for Top Schools - Berkeley, UCLA, UW, CMU, Northwestern, Princeton

Hi CC, I wanted a more “hollistic” reading of my chances for UC Berkeley/UCLA than the compiled thread would offer. Berkeley is my top choice and I applied to the College of NATURAL RESOURCES and declared an environmental science major. I believe that this college of Berkeley is the least selective. ALSO, I taked to the debate coach at Berkeley; he said that he could put me down as an applicant of interest.

To preface this:
I have already been accepted into Georgia Tech and into Umich. Other than that, I think my “stats” are weak, but my essays and EC’s are relatively good.

If you have time, chance me for the following as well:

CMU
Northwestern

@ajmehta21 - are you instate in CA? If not, UC’s are expensive for OOS students.
If you are instate in GA and already got into GATech what is the attraction to UC’s?

Im in state GA but have significant financial need. I got about 51k ish per year in aid from Michigan. Do you think berkeley might be similar if I get in?

UCs in general arent great for OOS students in terms of financial aid i really wanted to go to Davis or Berkeley but i decided i couldnt afford it

@ajmehta21 - Did you really get 51k/year in aid from Michigan or is it a typo? If you really got that
much you should go to Michigan. I have no idea about how much aid UCs give to OOS students.
You might want to ask ucbalumnus or gumbymom.

UW: Match
UCLA: Match
UC Berkeley: Reach
Princeton: High Reach

Your chances for berkeley are average in my opinion. However, if you standout in your essays, + the recommendation from the debate coach, and you will be a very worthy applicant

@eth0up its not a typo. Do u think that the UCs might give that much aid? I guess we will c thanks for the help tho

The UCs are not known for great aid, especially applied to out-of-state applicants. You are pretty solid for everywhere, with CAL being a slight reach, and Princeton a high reach.

UW: match
UCLA: match
UCB: high match
Princeton: reach
Northwestern: high match
CM: high match
