Chances for top schools

I am a high school junior at a very competitive (top 40) high school. Sorry in advance for not providing too much information. I'd like to protect my anonymity. I'll also chance back for anyone who would like to be. Anyhow here are the schools I'd like to be chanced for:
University of Pennsylvania (ED)
MIT (EA)
UChicago (EA)
Johns Hopkins (RD)
Cornell (RD)
Duke (RD)
UCLA (RD)
UT Austin (In-state)

SAT I: M 800 CR 690 W 730, E 10, Total: 2220

(Taken 3 times... this was my best score single sitting and for each section... Should I take for a 4th time?)

ACT: M 34 E 32 S 30 R 33, E 11, Composite: 32
M 34 E 30 S 34 R 32, E 9, Composite: 33

(Taken twice... I don't really like the ACT but I could probably do better on it)

SAT II: Math II 800 Chemistry 800 Spanish 750

Do I need to send all of those scores? Like I don't want to pay to send both of my ACT scores because they charge individually for each score... that could be pretty expensive.

GPA: UW: 4.0 W: 5.4

No rank at current school

AP's: Chemistry (5), Phys B (5) (Self Study), Spanish Lang (5) (Self Study), AP English Lang (4)

I don't really have many awards. All the awards I have are pretty lame and pointless. I will be able to fill up the 5 awards on the common app though they just won't be too impressive. I guess I'll have the national merit semifinalist thing when that comes around. I should be pretty safe for that.

My extracurriculars are pretty strong I guess. I don't want to say exactly what they are but I have a passion for a certain thing which should shine through on my application. I am kind of worried because it is kind of humanities based and my scores aren't great for that... I do have some science-related activities and leadership positions though and do like math and science quite a bit.

I'm working on my essays. They should be decent but I'm not a great writer and don't really have anything too meaningful to write about. It will probably be about my passion in some way.

State: Texas
Ethnicity: White
Gender: Male
Hooks: None lol

Thanks!

University of Pennsylvania (ED) - Reach
MIT (EA) - High Reach
UChicago (EA) - Reach
Johns Hopkins (RD) - Low Reach
Cornell (RD) - Low Reach
Duke (RD) - High Match
UCLA (RD) - Match
UT Austin (In-state) - Safety

You def have the scores to be accepted to your reaches but this is just based off the info you gave about your ECs. You shouldn’t say that you have nothing meaningful to write about, because you don’t have to be a spectacular writer to express yourself through writing. This link helped me out a lot, so I would check it out if you haven’t already. http://apply.jhu.edu/apply/essays/</a>
Best of luck!

@anastasia10‌ Thanks for the feedback! I actually have looked at that link. Don’t get me wrong, I’m working to find something interesting to write about. It’s just difficult for me to come up with anything. I do have some ideas though.

University of Pennsylvania (ED) - Wharton is a reach for anyone. Should be accepted ED to CAS or SEAS if you apply there.

UChicago (EA) - Low Reach
Johns Hopkins (RD) - Match
Cornell (RD) - Match
Duke (RD) - High Match
UCLA (RD) - High Match

As long as your EC’s are what you claim them to be, you should be fine. Good Luck and thanks for chancing me!

Thanks guys. I am applying to CAS ED. Will the 690 CR hurt too much for these schools?

chance me while I chance you please- http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1670747-improving-chances.html#latest</a></p>

Penn CAS (ED) - low reach (Penn requires all tests taken)

UChicago (EA) - Low Reach
Johns Hopkins (RD) - High Match
Cornell (RD) - High Match
Duke (RD) - Low Reach
UCLA OOS (RD) - Match
UT Austin (In-state) - Safety

Wait how is your waiting 5.4?

@noel597‌ My school weighs honors courses as 5.0 and AP/AP level courses as 6.0

I think your objective scores are outstanding. To be blunt, however, the other students who are applying to these universities you’ve listed are going to have the same scores. If I were you, I’d focus on your branding? What makes you special as an applicant? What can you bring to campus besides scores?

I’m just playing devil’s advocate here.

UPenn - High Reach
MIT - High Reach
UChicago - High Reach
Johns Hopkins - High Reach
Cornell - High Reach
Duke - High Reach
UCLA - High Match/Low Reach
UT - Low Match/Safety

Thanks for the response. I’m aware that most applicants have similar and higher scores. I think I do have something special to offer though and will work to show that in my essays.

University of Pennsylvania (ED) - Mid to High Reach
MIT (EA) - High Reach
UChicago (EA) - High Reach
Johns Hopkins (RD) - High Reach
Cornell (RD) - High Reach
Duke (RD) - Low Reach to Mid

Focus on your essays and I think you should be fine.
