<p>I'm counting down the days until Early Action...I know Yale is super-selective, so what are my chances for these other schools if (when?) I get deferred? Is this a reasonable list??</p>

<p>White female
Small, fairly competitive public high school, sends quite a few grads to top schools
SAT: CR: 800, M: 760, W: 800 – 2360
SATII: US Hist: 800
Math IIC: 800
Chemistry: 800
Rank: 2/~200
GPA: 4.0UW, 4.7W
APs: 5’s on 7 exams (Chem, Stat, US Hist, US Govt, Macroecon, Calc BC, English Lang), taking 4 more this year: Physics B, Comp Sci A, English Lit, Euro Hist
Most challenging courseload
Intended major: History, Econ, or Poli Sci</p>

Intern at local university, summer ‘05 (I know this seems out of place...I thought at that point I wanted to go into science, but interning convinced me that it wasn't my "calling," I guess)</p>

<p>Volunteer...around 120 hours
Local nursing home
Safety Town (2 years)
Local orchestra</p>

<p>Essays: I think they’re good (I hope!) so did GC, parents, etc.
Recs: Very good, I think…haven’t seen all of them…one “best in career”</p>

<p>Legacy at: Yale (double), Princeton, Penn</p>

<p>Schools: Yale (EA), Princeton, Harvard, UPenn, Columbia, Georgetown, Barnard, Northwestern, William and Mary, Brandeis, GW, UToronto, McGill</p>

<p>I’ve visited almost all these schools and loved them all! I know it’s a long list but I couldn’t bring myself to cut any out…I guess I just want options!!! What do you think?</p>

<p>yes sir, in my opinion you have a wonderful shot at yale. youre gpa/sat scores are out of this world and they def take legacies into consideration. the rest of your list is v. reasonable, you have a few clear safeties. bet of luck!</p>

<p>you need to bring your class rank up. And only 760 on math, what, did you not try? I don't think double legacy and ED will help either.</p>

<p>Ok, fine. But in all seriousness, I know soooo many superqualified people who didn't get into Yale. I guess I'm just really nervous with only a week left!</p>

so hopefully all you legacy's make a difference and get u accepted</p>

<p>its harvard that recieves a million 4.0s, ect, so you should be fine...is Yale binding? if not, would you chose it over Princeton?</p>

<p>oh and if you're looking to do a Political Science path, the page thing will look a million times better than its already high standard</p>

<p>yale's not binding...it was a tough choice between yale and princeton, but I stayed overnight and realized that while i liked princeton A LOT, i LOVED yale...and yeah, I am kind of a politics nerd, if you couldn't tell loll!! I hope the page thing looks good...it was SUCH an amazing experience!</p>

<p>i know a lot of my schools are the "gambles" like HYP, etc...I know those are reaches for everyone...but what about the rest of my schools? I'm just curious to know what are "safties" and what are "matches," etc...I just kind of chose my list arbitrarily lol</p>

GW - sort of a safety, but not quite there</p>
