Sorry in advance that this is so long!!!
I'm looking to transfer from Tufts University to another university for next school year (Fall 2014). I've had a rough time at Tufts so far and I don't feel that the student population is right for me, and I don't want to spend 4 years at a place where I don't feel at home.
That being said, my GPA so far at Tufts is VERY low. I had a rough first semester (got sick a lot, got mono, ended up going to hospital), and at this point I see that it would have been better to just take the rest of the semester off as that is not really a valid excuse for poor grades. My grades improved over the next semester, but I still had a cumulative 2.96 GPA. I anticipate that I will be able to get my act together for the upcoming year, but even still my GPA will probably be much lower than other transfer applicants.
My SAT score is high (2310 total, 1570 w/o writing) and I have pretty good AP exam scores (5 AP Bio (despite a C- in college bio...that goes to show how AP exams do not really mirror college classes!), 5 AP Spanish, 5 AP Composition, 4 AP Physics B, 4 AP Chem). I took one SAT subject test (Bio E) and got a 750. My weighted GPA was a 4.56 in HS and I was 12/480 in my class.

At Tufts, I am currently planning to major in Computer Science... and this is one of the reasons why I feel like transferring. I have enjoyed my CS classes the most by far, but I really wanted to study languages/something language related in college. Unfortunately, my language classes at Tufts have been pretty bad and not at all challenging, despite having nice professors. If I end up staying at Tufts, I will definitely stay in CS (I arrived somewhat late to the game taking my first CS course second semester and I loved it), but I feel like I am neglecting what I am best at and what I really love most.

I would love to look at some bigger schools (McGill, Cornell) and maybe Georgetown but I feel like at this point I just blew my chances of getting in anywhere else...I applied to Tufts ED because I just didn't want to go through the whole college application stress process and now I feel like I was just trying to take the easy way out and it's come back to bite me :( If anyone is familiar with the transfer process and could give me some guidance that would be great!
