Tufts: Reach

GWU Elliott: Match/High match
Rutgers SAS: Safety
NYU: Reach

I would put a great deal of effort into getting your math score up. You really want to hit 600, or it can hold you back. Have you tried the ACT? Oldest D did much better on the ACT math than on the SAT math (650 vs 35). She found the SAT more tricky and would get stuck between two answers. The ACT was more straightforward…but longer. She was able to get through the questions in time and with greater accuracy since it wasn’t tricky. A 35 put her in the 99th percentile of test takers, whereas her 650 was more like 88% if I remember correctly maybe lower.)

For younger D, her math scores were fairly comparable on each, but for different reasons. She was able to get a 610 which got her into NYU (art major). Her SAT had mistakes because of tricky questions, but she was always able to finish it. For ACT math, the questions she answered were almost all correct, but she never got to complete the math section in terms of timing.

I know her math score at 610 was just below the 25%ile of applicants at NYU for class of 2012. She did have a 720 on verbal which helped since it was above 75% of applicant’s scores. I would not want to be below 25% if you can help it. A score of 530 is way below that at the schools you list.

Good luck!

Thanks for the insight. Yeah, my math SAT score is about a hundred points below my PSAT score. Main reason was that I was short on time in all math sections and never got to around 4 pages of questions. I’m aiming for a 650 next time I take it with a better feel for pacing.

Georgetown SFS: Reach
GWU Elliott: Match
Rutgers SAS: Safety
NYU: High Match

Chance back please!

Tufts: reach
Georgetown: reach
GWU: match
Rutgers: safety
NYU: low reach

The thing is your ECs have little to do with your major. Also you can’t double major in SFS.

You can’t ‘double major’ per se but in Tufts (among other colleges and universities) you can choose a particular language / culture to focus on within your major.

Actually I want to be a lawyer specializing in international law, so yeah my ECs do fit my major (at least indirectly?).

Bump.

Bumpeth . ~!

Tufts, NYU, and Georgetown are all reaches. Both your GPA and SAT are subpar for all these schools. You need o improve on both of those aspects if you want to improve. If you were to apply to these schools with the scores you have now regular decision, you would be rejected from all three schools. Not trying to be rude, just giving you my honest opinion.

^ Meant to say that you need to improve on both of those aspects in order to gain admission.

My CR score is higher than the average for all 3. GPA translates to 4.0. So…

Yeah I need to work on math.

Yes, I am just saying as a whole your SAT is subpar for all three schools. Also, since when does a 93 equal a 4.0?

Since collegeboard said it does.

[How to Convert Your GPA to a 4.0 Scale](<a href=“College Board - SAT, AP, College Search and Admission Tools”>How to Convert (Calculate) Your GPA to a 4.0 Scale – BigFuture)

Bump.

Chance me for Swarthmore, Villanova, and BC as well?

Your converting your weighted GPA to a 4.0 scale, but weighted GPAs can go above 4.0.

Georgetown, Tufts- Reaches
NYU- Low Reach
GWU- Match
Rutgers- Safety

Thanks!

My UW is like a 3.8 or 3.9. I have no idea if my W is above 4.0, but I definitely know it’s at least equal to a 4.0.
