I'd appreciate it if I could get suggestions and feedback on my chances. I am currently in the process of choosing which schools to apply to. USC is my top choice!

I will be applying for Latin American Studies as my 1st major and Economics as my 2nd. I hope that my passion for the hispanic community and business can be effectively conveyed in my app. Please, any feedback would be much appreciated

GPA is rather low for transfer applicants, but I would say that your extracurriculars and URM will definitely help you out!

USC has no shortage of URMs, especially Hispanics. I’d switch majors to economics and downplay your ethnicity. Majoring in Latin American studies is trite, unremarkable and unchallenging, especially if you speak Spanish.

I completely disagree with SeattleTW. If Latin American Studies is something you’re passionate about, it should be able to shine through in your application. You wanting to improve Hispanic businesses in your community shows that this is a major that can benefit you, and give you insight into your culture. Speaking Spanish does not translate to knowing all about Latin American culture, considering that there are several different countries in Latin America with diverse traditions and values.
Hope that helps. :)
