chances for uci, ucd, ucsb, ucsc

i'm applying for the general psychology major next fall.... but I don't have that many EC's and volunteer work. is this going to affect my admissions a lot or are these UCs mostly just number-based?

Applying to:
UCI
UCSC
UCSB
UCD
i MIGHT apply to ucla and ucsd just to see if i can get in. doubt it though.

Stats:
California Resident
UC Weighted GPA: 4.0 Unweighted: 3.62
Class rank: 102/733 (cumulative... yes freshmen year screwed me up. i had a 3.3 average that year lol) 63/733 (10-11)
New SAT (umm these are just my practice test scores from my princeton review prep course.) Math: 680 Verbal: 700 Writing: 720 Essay: 10/12
I'm going to take the Biology (the molecular one) and US History SAT subject tests in May and June, since I'm taking the AP courses and getting A's in both classes.
AP Scores: I'm going to take the Biology, US History, Psychology, and Computer Science tests in May. I think I'll do well in Biology (4 or 5), OK (maybe a 3?) in US History since I'm good at memorizing facts but I don't do well on timed critical-thinking type essays, a 5 in psychology, and I'll probably get a 2 or a 1 in Computer Science.

Next year's Schedule:
Government
AP Econ (micro)
AP Stats
AP Lit
Chemistry
Physics
Drumline

ECs:
Character Counts (10,11) - 6 hours total (pathetic, i know)
Swim (9) - 7 hours a week (including swim meets) for 12 weeks.
Science Olympiad (11, going to continue senior year) - 20 hours total
Key Club (9,11, going to continue senior year) - 45 hours total
Freshmen Mentor (11, continuing senior year) - 15 hours total
Volunteer at the hospital (11, going to continue senior year): 100+ hours
School drumline (11, going to continue senior year) (does this count as an EC? i'm not sure since it's part of my class schedule, but we do compete): 5 hours a week, february- early june

I have never had a job. I think I should get one?

Upcoming Summer Activities:
only some volunteer stuff.... I'm thinking about taking a course at UCI if they let high school kids do that during the summer. if not then i'll take stats at a community college so I'll have one less class to attend senior year.

Opinions? Thanks!

do you go to san clemente high school by any chance?

^ no, I go to Tesoro

hey yeah you just responded to my post i do go to tesoro also.

i think you have a great shot at ucla, and an even better shot at ucsd.

if you look at my stats my grades & test scores arent that much better than yours & people have been very positive abt me getting into all uc's & some other ones too. don't sell yourself short.

i go to sc

What is going to hurt you is class rank. 90 plus percent are in the top 10% at UCD, I and SB. Don't know about SC. Most of those remaining 10% are athletes and special circumstances.

mtb1226 who are you? i go to schs also

schs has an incredibly awesome surf team. i knew jason miller, he graduated last year...sorry, way off-topic

Apply to any and all that appeal to you. It's one application, so other than the fees, which, in the scheme of 4 years tuition are minimal, you have nothing to lose.

UCs don't consider 9th grade in their gpa. Will that help you? I can also imagine a convincing essay on how your volunteer work fueled your interest in psychology. I think you have a good chance at all these schools.

u guys go to san clemente and tesoro? i go to el toro

wow I never realized how so many people from south orange county browse these forums hehe
