Hey,
I'm looking to transfer to UCLA next fall, and I would most likely be enrolling as a senior. I've heard people advise against this but I really want to graduate from a good school so I can get into a nice grad school.
So here's the deal, I have a 3.88 transfer gpa from my CC. I'm currently starting my 3rd year of college, and I just turned 19 (I started at 16 with an early college program). I'm co-admitted at Portland State. My ACT score wasn't spectacular, only a 22.
My sophomore year of HS I scored a 4 on the AP US exam. My EC's are limited to religious activities (I run PowerPoint for services at my church, among other things). In 2008 I volunteered overseas in India for about 2 months. I also work about 17 hours a week at the moment.
My major is political science, and I'm studying Farsi and plan to study Arabic.

Any advice, or predictions of what my chances are would be much appreciated!

-I also intend to apply to a couple of the other UC campuses as well.

^bump. because I need to knoow!

UCLA and the other UCs and CSUs are required to give very strong priority to transfer students from California Community Colleges and some consideration to transfers from other UCs. Transfer applicants from non-UC four year colleges are given the lowest priority and very few are accepted. Also, UCs do not accept transfer students with enough credits from a four year college like the U of O to be considered seniors. Basically, if you want to have a realistic chance of transferring to UCLA you need to be a CCC student applying as a junior.

The UCs are tying to admit many more full pay out of state students so I wouldn’t let not being in state stop you.

However, they, and most schools, don’t take senior transfers. You need to spend a minimum of 2 years to get their diploma. UCs typically do not like those with more than 60 credits, but given their new needs, it would be worth a call to admissions to discuss it.

Thanks for the replies!

Actually I have another question, what if I’m still of junior standing? If I applied (and in the far off chance I was admitted) would they care if I took a lighter credit load or took a trimester off?

bump. I hate to be so annoying.
