Wash U is very hard to predict, esp for out of state. for cal and ucla, u'd probably need to be atleast top 10% even for a CA resident. gl .w ur college search

Berkeley: Reach
UCLA: Reach
UCSD: Slight Reach
WUSTL: Reach
BC: Match-Slight Reach
NYU: Slight Reach
USC: Slight Reach

All the other lower UC's (UCI, UCSB, UCD) you should be in no problem. Even your reach and slight reach schools you have a decent shot for, so apply to all of them.

chris you're saying UCSD is slight reach and UCB is reach??

That is correct. I would like to know the posters UC GPA. But from what it looks like, the poster's SAT's fall just slightly above UCSD's average admit, and just slightly below UC Berkeley's average admit. Yet, his GPA is well below UCSD's average admit GPA of 4.04, and UC Berkeley's average admit GPA of 4.17 (remember UC's compute GPA using only 10th and 11th grade GPA). I believe the poster is a slight reach for UCSD and a reach for UC Berkeley. An argument could be made for UCSD to be a match and UC Berkeley to be a slight reach, however i feel the numbers lean more towards slight reach for UCSD and Reach for UC Berkeley. Do these odds not seem correct to you? Remember top tier UC's like SD, LA, and Berkeley are quite tough to get into having average admit SAT's around 2000 and GPA averages of well over 4.0. Even the mid-tier UC's like Irvine, Santa Barbara, and Davis have gotten quite competitive as of late and their average admit stats are quite high, i believe around a 3.9 GPA 1800+ SAT.

I'm interested in NYU too and have fairly similar stats. What would make NYU more of a match instead of a slight reach?

leadership ecs. a higher sat. etc. NYU Stern would be a big reach. Nyu regular is a slight reach. They also have a program called gsp if you really want to go to nyu.

UCB/UCLA: Slight Reach
UCSD: Match
UCI: Safe Match
