OP, how did you manage to fit in 13 APs and the full IB diploma? i have never in my life seen something as ridiculous as that. i dont even understand how its possible. what exactly is your schedule?

id say
UCB/UCLA: match/slight reach
UCI: safety

Man our science olympiad team rocks. You're being sarcastic anyways :D, Troy #1 scioly.

Btw about having both AP and IB...

Our IB classes are called stuff like "AP IB Calc AB" or w/e so it counts for both. We dont study any IB in there, its all prep for AP. IB is easier to pass than AP; i just studied like 1 day before for an hour. For the IB math SL, i knew NOTHING about stats; I just learned like 1 minute before the test about invnorm and normalcdf.

what about assessments (World Lit papers, Historical Investigations, TOK Essay, Extended essay...), dont you have to do those during the year? man, IB has like consumed my life lol

those are internal assessments for the different subjects. world lit corresponds to english HL, its an Internal Assessment, its just a paper (well there are 2) basically with 2 works of literature, you might be doing them this year. historical investigation same sort of thing. those assessments (i think eco IB has its own IA but i took music HL instead of eco), sort of like the portfolios you probably did for math and the group 4 project you probably did for physics, count for part of your grade out of 7, idk exactly what %, but you get the idea. TOK essay, if you havent taken TOK yet, you wont know about, but its like just as important as the EE (counts as those bonus point things)

Well, I dont have to work ultra hard for those essays. You only need a 30 (?) for an IB diploma right? If i get 5-6 (or less) on all my IB tests then im good right?

for TOK and EE, which is the combined 3 points, you get letter grades for each, i think if you get a D and an F you still pass, but just without bonus points. and youll do fine, with the ap stuff you cover about half the material anyway, and even if you do absolutely no studying you should be able to pull 4's, so yeah, dont worry about it. However, most colleges take HL exams for credit, so if you get like a 4 on the AP exam, but happened to get a 7 on the IB exam, you would get credit. otherwise, good luck taking that set of like 13 tests in may...

well you dont need to take some of the tests if you will get credit for it anyway, and also, govt and History of the Americas HL is pretty different, us govt focuses more on, well, the us government, whereas at least in my school we go much more into the cold war and stalin, so you might wind up having to work a lottt, but i would ask about what you are going over in class for each. also for econ, im sorry i dont know much about it for ib, but if its SL, after taking the AP class i wouldnt think it could be too hard. one of the tests i think might be redundant is english lit, its similar to english HL, and im not sure colleges would give credit separately, so i might ask about that. i think HL might even be more, since there are 2 ap englishes, and HL is a 2 year sequence. check with your counselor or english teacher though.
