I am applying out of state. My ACT Score is 30 Overall (recently retook).
GPA is a 3.4, but have taken 4 AP classes and go to an elite prep school. My goal is to go to med-school.

EC's: varsity athlete four years, volunteer CYO basketball coach, have held impressive internships at two nationally renowned research hospitals, volunteered at a local hospital 2X a month for a year, member of SADD, anti-poverty group, and elected school leader. Can elaborate more if needed.

I am also being recruited for sports at UCONN and am taking an official visit in the coming months. Will this boost me in any way for the Honors College admissions? I need Honors for the tuition reduction, as I am out of state.

My S was admitted to UConn Honors (Engineering), although he ended up going elsewhere. I think his class rank helped. He placed in the top 10% of his class. Also academic awards look great on your application–especially if awards are at a regional or state level. Is your gpa weighted or unweighted? You should also look into how to get into Honors after Freshman year. UConn has gotten very competitive but your stats look great! Good luck.

my school doesn’t have class rank…too many smart kids, too much competition. My GPA is “weighted”, but my school gives such a small weight to our classes that it really doesn’t affect it much. Do you know what school is the easiest Honors to get into (Arts & sciences, business, etc.)? Thanks for your input!
