It’s a good list. The two reaches are UVA and BC. I think your chances at those two are slim, but worth a shot. If you could get your SAT up 100 points your chances would improve a fair amount. But it is good to try for a couple of schools like that since you have other schools where you should have excellent chances. I think you would also have a decent chance at Miami and Tulane, if those schools interest you at all.

what is your recalculated gpa for some of these schools? For example UF calculates their gpa on a 5.0 scale adding 1 point to AP and .5 to honors. If you’re in the 4.1-4.4 range after that then you’re in the 50% of the applicants gpa wise.

@fallenchemist‌ Miami is too close to home for me and I don’t have a particular interest in the New Orleans area. The NE really appeals to me. Do I have a good chance at UF and BU because I really love both schools

@tandrew‌ I just sat down and calculated my UF GPA… with all my classes (not just core but with ALL my classes), it came out to a 4.26185 … this doesn’t count any of senior year if that makes a difference, just from SM1 from Freshman year to SM2 of junior year… do I have a good chance?

Also my SAT score is my superscore if that makes a difference

@nickdicicco‌ - I think you have a good chance at BU. Of course these things always come with the caveat that college admissions, especially these days, is quite unpredictable. But by all usual parameters you seem to be a good match for them. UF has become crazy to predict, but again by traditional standards you should also have a good shot there.

I was just trying to think of some other schools that might appeal to you since college admissions is a bit of a numbers game these days, by which I mean that while 4-5 applications used to be enough to insure a positive outcome, now it seem to take twice that many. That assumes a couple of reaches and the rest matches and safeties. But like I said its a good list. You might want to scour some of the college guides that are organized by region and find 2-3 more schools that should be a match for your stats and that you think you could like. Just to be on the safe side.

@fallenchemist‌ maybe Penn State, Northeastern, UCF, Wake Forest? … safety school for me would definitely be FSU as my high school is basically a feeder school for Florida State … I hate to reach for alot of schools but I’ve always strived to go to the best place I could go to

@nickdicicco‌ - I understand, but I think your approach is quite solid. I understand that FSU is a safety for you, I was just trying to think of other schools in the NE that have a business orientation or at least a solid department where you would have a high chance of admission. Northeastern is a good one. Wake Forest will be as much of a reach as BC. So you obviously aren’t “married” to the idea of the NE, just a preference, correct? Would Philly be a place you would look at favorably? You also don’t seem to really care of the school is rural or urban, very large or smaller. Do you have leanings regarding these issues? Oh, how about Fordham?

@fallenchemist‌ NE is a high preference but if the right school came along I’d definitely consider it. In regards to urban or suburban, I’d definitely prefer an urban campus but if a good school that was rural came along I’d definitely take it into serious consideration. Philly would be nice. And I’ve never looked into Fordham, where is that located? Do they have a good buisness program? Would I have a good chance of being admitted to their?

Fordham is in NYC, and I think fits your stats well. They actually have two campuses, one in Manhattan and one in the Bronx, near the zoo. You can study business at either campus. I don’t know the nitty-gritty. Here is a link: <a href=“Fordham University”>http://www.fordham.edu/academics/colleges__graduate_s/undergraduate_colleg/college_of_business_/academics/index.asp</a></p>

UF is extremely holistic (almost to a fault) , so it is still a reach. Your GPA is good for them, but it’s hard to say what your chances are because in different years, they put emphasis on different things.

UF: High match
FSU: Safety
Babson: Low match/safety
BU: Match
BC: Low reach (shoot for 2100+ SAT)
UVA: Reach (out of state it is VERY difficult)

@fallenchemist I will definitely check it out thank you so much for your help!

I have an update and would like some feedback,

As of know I’ve applied and been accepted to UCF and Fordham but have been defered from Northeastern and Babson…this really bummed me out and made me worried…do I still have a good chance for my other options (exclude UVA, I did not apply)

bump

also my SAT score is 1950 , not 1930
