Ok so just going to make this as straight forward as possible, I’ve looked at the statistics for University of Georgia admissions, and I’m right around a bit under average it seems and I’m just going to post some info about myself. Hopefully someone who has made it in can compare their stats to mine and figure out my chances:
Freshmen year
Honors math : 93
Honors bio : 92
Spanish 2 : 91
Lit (not honors) ; 96
Participated in cross country and track, didn’t get a varsity letter in either.
Sophomore year
Honors math : 92
Honors chem : 92
Spanish 3 : 89
Honors lit : 87
Honors world history : 94
Participated in track and cross country and got a varsity letter in cross country.
Junior year is still going right now but so far all A’s with these classes:
AP statistics
AP chemistry
US History
Lit
Honors math (accel pre calc)
Varsity lettered in cross country again and haven’t done track yet.
Took the act once, the test scores aren’t in yet but I’m not looking forward to seeing them because I think I did around a 23. Shooting for a 28 or 29 by the last test date, which I will be peacticing a lot for.
So, does anyone want to tell what kind of a shot I have at UGA?
Also, I’ve heard from places that it sometimes matters what major you are going into. So currently my major of choice is split between either pre med or one of the biology majors.
Due to your major and your lower end stats, I wouldn’t get your hopes up. Why haven’t you taken AP Biology? You also need to get your grades up to the mid 90s at least. If your grades increase and your letters of rec and essay(s) are phenomenal, you have a great chance for admission. Make yourself unique and focus on the strengths of yourself. Good luck!!!
Thank you for the advice. By the way, I plan to take AP Biology my senior year, and in fact my grades this year have been going very well so far (all at least 95 or better somehow, even AP chemistry which I throught would kill me). If I can keep the grades as they are that would actually round me off right at an exact 4.0 if you average my freshman, sophomore, and junior year, which is a bit above average for UGA, so I’m on my way to being above average stats just not above at this moment in time. And I guess I should really go for a 29 on the ACT because that is the exact average for UGA.
Anytime! Definitely take AP Biology next year. You have a great mindset and plan. Also, definitely aim for that 29 on the ACT. Also, have you considered taking the regular SAT? And what about SAT subject tests? SAT Subject Tests are offered for Biology and Chemistry; if you do good on them, you have a GREAT shot of receiving admission. Best of luck to you and happy holidays!
Wow I haven’t even heard of the SAT subject tests lol but I will look into those and definitely consider them. I will also be taking the SAT next test date to see how I do on that but currently I plan for my practing to be more oriented for ACT, although if I do way better on my first SAT then I will most likely focus more on SAT. Thanks for the advice and happy holidays also!
Well my ACT score just came in 10 minutes ago at a composite of 27 and I’m actually really suprised I did that well! I will still keep trying though.
Sounds like a plan! Keep your head held high and keep working to improve! Best of luck to you and enjoy the new year
