UGA: Chances?

I am an upcoming senior, (2016) and attending the University of Georgia has been a dream of mine for quite some time now. Not only am I a die-hard UGA football fan, but my father’s whole family has attended the school with the exception of an aunt and uncle. I am aware that the legacy status does not affect one’s chances of acceptance, but hey, who wouldn’t want to continue a tradition? I love Athens; the atmosphere, the diversity and the familiarity of the town have all continued to kindle my passion to attend. I’m posting out of worry, and my anxiety has driven me to getting chanced by prospective, past, or present students at competitive colleges. This is my first thread, so I don’t know exactly what to include. Please, grant me mercy.

Also, there is a dual enrollment program offered at my school with our local college. There are no AP maths at my school, so I have decided to take the dual enrollment math classes (but are taught at the highschool). They are Pre-Calc (first semester), and then Calc and Statistics (second semester).

My EC’s are limited due to my job (I work at a restaurant, night shift.) But I have worked there for a year now and the place I work for offers wonderful scholarships through their chain. I am in NHS, BETA, FEA, Student Council, Leadership (Student advisory council equivalent), participated on the academic team and am considering joining journalism, literary club and/or debate team.

Your GPA is at the bottom end of the middle 50%, but I wouldn’t worry about that too much since you’ve taken a pretty rigorous schedule, and a 2000 would be near the top of the middle 50%. I would try to apply early action and schedule an interview if they offer those just so that the admissions counselors can see how enthusiastic you are about their school. Overall, I would say you have a pretty good shot at getting in, just make sure they know how much the school means to you.

Isn’t EA strictly grades? And can I schedule an interview with EA or RD? Thank you so much.

I’m not sure what they look at with early action, but I assume it’s your whole application with test scores, grades, essays, etc. The interview, if they offer them, is just supplemental to the application so they can get to know you more as a person in a way they can’t from the application.

bumpppp

you’ll definitely get in, end of story

I’m applying as well and you look like a significantly better applicant than me. I’d say you’ll get in quite easily because of your GPA. Not even a question if you get that 2000 SAT
