Chances for University of Rochester?

Hello all,

just wanted to ask how you might see my chances as an international applicant:

GPA: School does not give a GPA
Junior APs: AP German (5), AP Bio (4), AP Comp GovPol (5), Statistics (3)
Senior APs (+ expected grade): AP Micro (4/5), AP Macro (4/5), AP Euro (5), AP English Language and Comp (5), AP Human Geography (5) - one more probably as self study
ACT: first take - 28C, second take - still waiting for results, hoping for at least a 32C (then submitting my scores)
TOEFL IBT: 115

Recs:

  • 1st Recommender: My GovPol teacher, have not read but I think 9/10, I was very curious and did a lot of extra stuff, we had many discussions outside of class
  • 2nd recommender: my former stats teachers, even though I was not the best he wrote about how I always tried my best and never gave up, have not read but probably a 8/10 - Should I submit this one even though it is optional?
  • Counselor Rec: I talked with her for hours and hours about very personal stuff, she knows a lot about me. We always recommend books to each other. She read me some parts of the recommendation and it sounded really like me, but in a really amazing way (10/10)

Intended Major: PoliSci or IR hoping to double major/minor in East Asian Studies
Spike: might be me having studied in three different countries, right now attending an American international school abroad
Financial Aid: needed

I would be very grateful for your help or advice!

I think your EC’s are very strong. A 31 should be enough to get you a spot because of them, but who knows. They are aiming for a 25% rate this year so there really aren’t any guarantees unless that ACT score is high.

@student13138 where did you hear that information?

@kalons they said it in my ed acceptance letter

@student13138 they’re aiming for a 25% acceptance rate overall? that’s a huge leap back from the 34% acceptance rate from last year…

@kalons the 34% rate you see online was from several years ago. they never released last years rate.
