Ultimately I want to go to medical school but i also have a strong passion for business. I feel like getting a business degree in finance will help me in the medical field. Especially if I want to have my own practice.

@catrina
I believe so. I looked around in the ut boards and apparently there are many pre med students in mccombs.
Do you think my rank will hurt me at all? IS there some sort of automatic admission for mccombs?

Nope, there is no automatic admission to McCombs. Each applicant is considered holistically. Your class rank isn’t a big problem, you are in the top 6% of your class. If I had to put money on it, I’d say you’re in for McCombs.

And yes, there are quite a few business majors who go on to medical school. As long as you take your prereqs you’ll be fine.

But weren’t you the guy who decided on doing petroleum engineering a while ago? lol

@asianandpround
haha yeah. I was hoping no one around here remembered
Im jumping back and forth lately. One week I want to be a petroleum engineer and the next week i want to be a doctor/business major again. Im keeping my option open. Petroleum engineering at TAMU if i decide to do that and hopefully Business/pre med at austin if i decide to go that route. I actually have some experience in the medical field from volunteering while in engineering i have none. So i guess im gonna have to decide soon what i want to do. Mom wants me to be a doctor. dad wants me to become an engineer.

Edit: oh and thanks for your reply. Hopefully i can get in and my academics are not an issue.
