I’ve been looking into UT a lot recently, and it seems like a great fit for me. My SAT/GPA fall above the 75th percentile, but my weakness is that my school is an unaccredited Christian school in China , and our school does not assign class ranks.
-I got a 1490 in redesigned SAT(CR740 M750 Essay 8/6/7)
-My TOEFL score is 110.
-My math is quite strong, but I was sick when I took SAT subject test in November. So I only got a 650.
-I also took sat chemistry, but the score has not been released.
-APs Calculus BC: 5 AP Human Geography: 3 AP Physics M: 3 (I did not take the class but had a try)
Taking APES, APUSH, and AP Physics MEM
-Unweighted GPA: 3.8 Weighted: About 4.1 I took AP/honors classes online.
As far as EC’s, I have a paid tutoring job at my school. I have been a moderator in Chinese lymphoma society and a volunteer translator of information about lymphoma/leukemia. I also founded a charity to help impoverished Tibetan students and orphans in a Christian orphanage by providing travel consulting services. Other ECs include geology fact-finding trip in Tibet , diving, and physics lab improvement competition. I’m also a member of my church’s worship team
My college counselor thought my essay A is almost perfect, but the optional essay is a little bit weak. I have strong recommendation letters.
Hopefully I have a good shot of getting in. Any feedback will be appreciated. I have a friend who only got 1800 in old sat and 103 in TOEFL. She was admitted by UT.
