Could I get the Parks Scholarship from NC State? It is a full ride and is awarded to the top 40 students who enroll.

Your application is really good. Your ECs could improve a little, but they are really good in my opinion. Also, I know that some people are saying that a 2100 is not good enough for UVA, but my sister got into UVA and she didn’t even have a 2000, so a 2100 is definitely good enough.

@SJJunior was your sister OOS or in-state? Also, I just took the ACT and I think I did very well. I am expecting a 34 and hoping for a 35. UVA is my dream school, so how would that ACT score affect my chances? Thanks.

She was instate, but a 34 ACT score would be really good for UVA. Their middle 50% for ACT scores is 29-33, so a 34 would be higher than 75% of their admitted students.

Georgia u have a chance but I am not sure about other school

Id say you have reasonable chances at many of these schools. Some things that may be important are what your major is so that if you apply to a school like GT with engineering its harder to get into. Some of the public schools like UVA that you arnt a state resident in might be harder for you to get in to, not that you arnt qualified, you are just competing for a smaller amount of spots

@runner22 Yeah, I don’t plan on applying to GA Tech for engineering. Should I apply as undecided or should I apply for an unpopular major? I heard that applying as an unpopular major would increase my chances of acceptance, but I don’t know if that is true.

With your 34/35 ACT I would think that your chances of getting into the first colleges you listed are very high, although I don’t know much about UVA or GWU. Vanderbilt and Cornell are looking good for you, as well. If you keep up your GPA and make sure your essay is amazing life you said, I would consider Vanderbilt to be high-middle match and Cornell a low-ish reach. You are a very qualified candidate for all of the schools you mentioned. Good luck and thank you for chancing me.

Your GPA and ECs are solid. However, UVA strongly favors in-state applicants, so that leaves you at a disadvantage. It should be a low reach for you. NC State should be an easy acceptance. Cornell is a reach but Vanderbilt is possible.

UVA: I don’t know
Georgia Tech: high match
George Washington: match
NC State: safety
Cornell: mid reach
Vanderbilt: low reach / high match

Thanks for chancing me! Here you go:
Vanderbilt: medium reach
Cornell: reach
UVA: low reach
Georgia Tech: high match
GWU: match
UNC: safety
Definitely try to build up more EC’s and good luck on hitting that 2200 mark!

Definitely have a good chance at George Washington U, NC State, and Georgia Tech. Your cred’s look great for UVA but it’s so hard to predict with them when it comes to out of state students. But I would apply early action to UVA-- from what I’ve heard, there is less competition then and therefore easier to get in.

In order of preference,

UVA, - REALLY tough for out of state…
Georgia Tech, - with 2100 I would say match, 2200 I would say safety
George Washington, - 2100 safety
NC State (in-state)- safety 2000+

Cornell and Vanderbilt?
- cornell is a high match, applying ED would give you the needed boost if you have a 2200. If you get 2100 it’ll be slightly tougher but you still will have a good shot
- vandy is a reach. For 2100 or 2200. It is rumored that they accepted an average sat of 2300 this year!

@NotreDame75 I took the ACT two weeks ago and did way better than I thought. I’m expecting a 34 and hoping for a 35. How would this affect my chances at UVA and Vanderbilt?

Vanderbilt - High match if you actually get that 34/35, your course rigor could be a little stronger, but your high grades make up for it enough
Cornell - low reach, especially ED
Virginia - high match - very difficult OOS, but you seem like a very solid candidate for them
Georgia Tech - low match
GWU - low match
NC State - Safety
