So, I was wondering what my chances are in terms of getting into those three schools.
I have a few leadership positions at school and in my community. I went to Girls State. I've had straight A's for all of high school. I've taken 4 APs so far along with other weighted courses. I plan to take 4 more during my senior year. I'm most likely at least going to commended for the National Merit Scholars program. My total SAT score is 2050. I'd really like to get that to at least 2100. I've taken two subject tests with scores of 750 (Literature) and 800 (US History). I understand that only UVA requires the subject tests, but I guess it wouldn't hurt to send them to the other schools, too, right? Oh, and I'd be applying out-of-state to UNC. Would my chances of getting into UNC-Chapel Hill increase if I applied early decision?

In a way, your chances of getting in increase if you apply early decision.

UVA: Your subject tests look pretty good, so even if it’s not required, sending them in may still get you a little boost. This would probably be a match, especially since SATs aren’t nearly as important as GPA here. Still important though, of course.

William and Mary: Match, since you have straight A’s and so therefore are probably also rank 1. If your SATs were over 2100, you’d almost definitely get in.

UNC: About the same as above two, except since you’re out of state, it’ll be a little harder. Early action acceptance rate is almost ten percent higher, but that doesn’t mean much.

Thanks. That was really helpful.
