Chances for Vandy, UMich, Columbia, Cornell

Hi, I'm a senior at a small high school in Alabama looking to go into some kind of engineering field, most likely electrical, I am applying to Vandy EDII, any feedback will be very much appreciated!

Academics:
35 ACT
33 English/Writing
34 Math
36 Reading
35 Science

3.9 UW GPA
Ranked 4/72

3 out of 3 AP's my school offers, no tests on any though.
All other courses are honors

I was also the first student from my school ever to take Calculus I as a senior and I will be taking Calculus II next semester, that will not be included on my transcript but will be part of my recommendations.

EC's:
Track: Nationally ranked, state runner-up, captain, multiple regional and conference titles
Cross Country: Nationally ranked, 2x state medalist, 2x first team all state, captain
Boy Scouts: Eagle Scout and a year as senior patrol leader
Band: I was in marching band until tenth grade and in concert band until 11th
Academic team: Multiple regional and district medals, captain
Beta club: member through junior year, participated in service
NHS: Member, participates in service
Guitar club: I was a member during the two years my school had a guitar club
Church youth group: Attended church and youth
ACT study group: I lead an ACT study group at my school

My essay is pretty good and my recommendations should be amazing, could anyone give me a rough estimate of what the decisions of these schools will be? Thanks.

Could you get recruited for Track or Cross Country?

I could, I have talked to a few of the coaches and they have said I am good enough to be on the team but I am not really interested in running during college.

Well you have awesome ACT scores and a good GPA Mich is a match and Vandy is a high match. Cornell is a low reach and Columbia is a mid-high reach, not because you’re not good enough but because the applicant pool is so strong. Being an athlete, that may give you a bit of a boost in chances. I think you’ll get in to Mich and Vandy, and perhaps Cornell as well. Columbia, who knows (I was rejected ED :D) But whatever happens, best of luck. And I guess it doesn’t matter where else you get in if you’re accepted to Vandy.

Umich:high match
Vandy(ED): high match
Columbia:reach
Cornell: low reach

Since 2010, I’d argue that Vanderbilt is harder to get into than Cornell. My high school sends a ton to both colleges and there are far more rejected from Vanderbilt that have to “settle” for Cornell than the reverse.

Anyways, I think you have a great chance if you apply early to Vanderbilt. You have great scores and GPA. Good luck.

Michigan:match
Vanderbilt: high match
Columbia:reach (reach for anyone)
Cornell: mid/low reach (reach for anyone)
