Wellesley’s a reach for me but it’s my first choice. I really love everything about it. Do I have a chance? I’m retaking SATs and SATIIs but is my GPA and extras really too low for Wellesley Regular/ED?

Some other schools:
Smith
Brandeis
Boston College

If you feel passionately about the school, then it is always worth applying. Best of luck to you!

I don't know about chances, so I can't say much there. Is the app still free online? Since you are retaking the SAT, the College Board will send all your cumulative scores to Wellesley if you put the school down, leaving no cost but the time. Once you apply to a bunch of colleges, adding additional ones is very little money and paperwork (especially if you don't apply to so many schools that you don't have to pay extra to send your SATs). You can also reuse the same essay on the common app. The worst that can happen is you don't get in, which puts you in the same boat as not applying.

I'm not sure what effect intended majors have on the admissions process. I know that you enter undeclared anyway (you don't have a to choose a major until sophomore year). You can also change your declared major before you have to confirm it.

The major choice thing is on the application supplement, right? Are there general subjects or do the choices seem to reflect every single program Wellesley offers?

My suspicions are that the "intended majors" question is used to boost applicants with interests in Wellesley's less populated departments, such as Geosciences, Astronomy, Jewish Studies, and German.

Biology and English would not be considered unpopular majors, and you can throw Economics, Psycology, IR and Poli Sci on that list as well.

You have good scores in AP Lit and AP Bio as well as two English-related ECs, so putting down your interest in English and Bio makes sense. I don't think it would hurt you.

Good Luck!
